She marched with a spear in her hand

The walls have not come down, but they have been given a serious shaking.

That Jericho voice is stilled now.

Molly Ivins has been quieted....

My forever friend and ex,Tom, would always call himself and one of his best friends, Jim, "brothers of the spear"- now it is my time to take the name for my sisters and me. We do this in the name of Molly Ivins, Ann Richards, and Barbara Jordan, and all of those that have gone before us. We must never forget and never give up. So, Maya and the rest of us, let us bang those pots and pans, raise the spear, and, as we say down in Texas, "Raise some hell!!!!"

Please pardon my quote of lyrics from a Blood, Sweat, and Tears song in a thread featuring that beautiful poem by Maya Angelou, but when I think of Molly the thing that sustains me more than anything else is that every time a seemingly irreplacable human being like Molly Ivins is taken from us, someone else will step forward with the heart and soul and intellect to carry the torch and finish the work that others so nobly advanced.
