TGIF, Truthseekers!

Today's Friday firings shows Joint Chief of Staff Peter Pace the door. He will not be renominated when his term ends this September. I wonder who else will get canned while Bush is on his European hate tour? Gonzo better watch his backside.

So what was it that finally forced Peter out? Was it his partisan call for Scooter Libby's pardon? His utter failure in Iraq and total delusion that there was some mysterious "progress" being made there?

Or is it as simple as this - the Bush Crime Family wanted to avoid the kind of Congressional confirmation hearing Pace would face upon renomination for fear it would turn into a trial of the Iraq war?

According to the AP: " . . . it became clear that Gates had been advised by Congress that a re-nomination hearing for Pace would provide an opportunity for a sort of public trial of the conduct of the war. Gates said the recent discourse on Iraq had 'created an environment' that made it obvious Pace's renomination would require 'a confirmation process that would not be in the best interests of the country.'"

So who's next in the hot seat?

Actually, My bosses weren't ogres and if someone was upfront about stuff, they usually gave them a chance. The head of the department was very uncomfortable with the credit checks, and didn't think it was right to deny someone employement on that basis.

not stellar after losing a job several years ago from my thyroid storm. I was not working for 6 months. So things got behind. We all have stuff like like. Not many people these days have perfect credit.

I remember on case where a young kid, maybe 19, had some serious credit issues. When I looked at the dates, I figured out that they probably weren't his because he would have been like 14 when someof them happened. When I brought things like that to my bosses' attention, they were pretty outraged.

I though I wanted a career in HR, but I saw so much crap I decided I couldn't live with myself if i stayed in it.

your point of view. It might have worked better for you to be at UTSA. A friend of ours from SA got a scholarship to Vasser. She was a very poor, very smart SA born and bred Mex/Am girl. She only lasted one semester at Vasser because of the culture shock. Everyone else drove BMWs, etc. and she didn't even have a car. She moved home and got her BS in Computer Science at UTSA.

That's what I think happened.

UPDATE:

I've got really good news! I'm on Cloud Nine! Remember how wild Mama Cat brought her kittens to my backyard? Well, one of them would always call out to my kid (Beloved Daughter, 10) and say, "I'm not a dirt-cat. I want to be a pampered indoor cat, and you to be my human." And he would try to follow her. Well, James, our neighbor grabbed him 3 weeks ago, and gave him to us (he 'owns' semi-wild Mama Cat, or he brought her here). They couldn't test "Dexter 'Sly'" until today. They put him on antibiotics (minor virus-cold thingie) and gave him a vitamin supplement. Of course, we became hopelessly attached/bonded. Well, Dr. Vet tested him today, and he doesn't have any diseases, and he's 110% healthy. We're very happy. I'll have pictures posted by Monday!

He's resting now, after his vaccinations. I wondered if I should have FOUR indoor cats, but you guys encouraged me to rescue him. Dexter did NOT get the memo about being an unfriendly wild cat. He's the most lovey-dovey, sweet, well-behaved little kitty I've ever had in 25 years of cats.

I guess it's getting time to capture Mama Cat and the four leftover wild ones out in my backyard. My neighbor isn't helping at all. The kittens are about 8 weeks old now. Mama Cat did a good job; her kittens are very well-behaved, and no one has fallen into my pool!

Yay!!!!!! I'm so glad you gave us this update!! You should talk to your neighbor about at least having Mama cat spayed. You can get a low cost certificate from Friends of Animals, I can PM you the phone number. My vet lets people post flyers about animals that need homes, will yours let you do that?

And, I have the info about the spaying! I'm going to make my neighbor do it! But my vet said to wait until the kittens are gone, and Mama Cat's milk has dried up to spay her.

I think we have potential adoptive parents in the neighborhood!

Thanks for getting me through this. My DU friends convinced me to go ahead and have 4 cats (indoors)! What's the difference between 3 and 4 anyway?

Well the certificate part anyway, since you have the info. I'm glad to hear that there are neighbors interested in adopting the kittens. I've found that once you have more than one, there really isn't much difference, other than the amount of poop I scoop every day. Congrats again and huge hugs to Dexter!! :hug:

And, I relate. I now have a system for dealing with the kitty litter (one more doesn't seem to make that much difference).
