Does the donkey symbol for the Democratic Party stand for Eeyore?

The Democratic Party Leadership sounds depressing sometimes...

"We don't have the votes, we shouldn't even try to (Impeach Bush/Impeach Cheney/Impeach Gonzales/End the War in Iraq, etc.)."

I love these guys, but they need to realize that the People support them and their support for them grows when their opposition to the Bush Administration gets stronger.

that our congressional leaders can count to 67, isn't it?

But nonetheless, they are acting responsibly, even though you may not like the short-term results.

from folks who can't get a grip on the fact that our democracy ultimately operates behind those votes.

What many folks seem to want is some kind of dictatorial system where our slim, veto/filibuster-vulnerable majority is able to muscle their will through, despite the fact that our party hasn't yet achieved a veto/filibuster-proof majority.

We're working with what we've got. It's not an earth shaking majority, but it's not the trenches we endured for over a decade. Our majority is only as effective as the numbers we send to Washington. A Democratic president wouldn't hurt either.
