If some Blackwater "soldiers" misbehave in a far-away land
would that mean that the country's leaders could attack North Carolina?..or anywhere in the US that contained "training camps"?

We seem to think it's perfectly ok for OUR "para-military" adjuncts to go all over the world and yet we seem to have "issues" when neighboring countries of our "enemies abroad" have THEIR paramilitaries "help" their neighbors..

What's the difference??

is it really that unusual for Iran or Syria to "meddle/be interested" in the affairs of their neighbors.. We seem to be very "interested" in what happens in Cuba, Mexico, Central America, South America, Canada..

Why is it "normal" for us to "help"...yet when anyone else does it, it's grounds for war?

1. 'Cause we got the nukes. We're the big dog and we get to make the rules.

3. We're not the only ones with the nukes or the foreign aid.
We might not be the big dog forever.

5. Absolutely. Bullying is not a good long term strategy.
And our world dominance relies on the respect and goodwill of our peers. The fact that Albania is the only country excited to see our leader is very telling. We have to change the direction our country or else we are headed into deep deep trouble.

2. Exactly.
And, imagine if China invaded the United States because Norwegian bombed a city in China. Let's suppose that none of the Norwegian citizens were living in the United States at the time they bombed this city in China, but China was mad at the U.S., so they used the attack as an excuse to invade and occupy us.

What would the average U.S. citizen do in reaction to being invaded and occupied by another country? Let's suppose that China talked a handful of other countries, say - Chile, Portugal, and Guatemala - into helping them invade and occupy the U.S. Let's say that China said that we needed invading because we were ruled by a trigger-happy, lunatic dictator who was threatening to use weapons of mass destruction.

Suppose that the Chinese army started arresting people all over the United States, throwing them in jail, and torturing and murdering them to get us to talk about these weapons of mass destruction.

How would we react?

4. And when we did react, Americans would be called terrorists and written off as human beings
Brilliant analogy you made. How effed up can a foreign policy get?

6. I'm glad you like my analogy. I sent a longer version to my local paper
when we first invaded Iraq. They didn't publish it, naturally.

8. And how much
does a private band of Armed Gorillas, doing murder for hire, sound like terrorists? How much does that make us sound like a nation exporting terrorism? Rosie O'Donnell had it right but not about our legal standing Army, about Blackwater and other Mercenary Outfits. Our Administration is exporting Private Terrorism for hire. I have a feeling that's where the extra Billions are siphoned off the Military Budget, that go missing.
