2. what's the purpose of endorsements?
To influence people who can't think for themselves?

But really, it's all about money. Hillary is getting more and more high profile endorsements which means more money will come pouring into her campaign. More money leads to more endorsements which leads to more money. This hungry money monster effectively drowns the voices of other candidates.

Personally, I like Hillary, got nothing against her. But I won't support her during the primaries because there are better candidates (running and not yet) like Edwards, Clark, and Gore.

The more endorsements she gets this early in the race, the more turned-off I am by her candidacy. Careful, Hils, your money munching monster machine could backfire on you.

One more thing ... polls that put her and Obama ahead, alternately, are meaningless. As this stage, most people are not seriously thinking about who they want for president in 2008. So when the pollsters call, they toss out names they know, a candidate they read about in the papers or saw on tv who made a good impression. The real polls that matter will be right before the primaries, when people are starting to pay more attention and critically evaluating the candidates.

Until then, this is all about money. We need campaign finance reform yesterday!

4. The only endorsements that mean jack shit, are the ones that come from VOTERS...

Even Gore couldn't help Dean in '03...

The voters will make the ultimate decision.

And if you think it will be the frontrunner in JUNE.. a polarizing nominee with extremely high negatives... a nominee that 1 out of every 4 Independents say they won't vote for (per MSNBC's Hardball this Tuesday)

... I say "think again".

8. Now I'm going to have to beat you up.
She's an amazing poet. Political pundit, not so much.

10. I will say this
I am glad poetry was read at all. I am all for public poetry readings anywhere, and an inaugural gets a decent-sized audience for it.

12. She's Great
I love Maya and she does not write empty fluff. Is that how you handle anyone who likes someone you don't like?

18. My dear mom and I are going 'round and 'round over Sen. Clinton.
She'd like to see a woman president, I can't stomach her.

I'm not sure I'm right on this one. (Please don't tell Mom. :) )
