I think the Freepers actually shot themselves in the foot by harassing Libby's Judge
I get the sense that Libby's judge was really ticked off over the freeper type of harassment he was getting.

At the beginning of Thursday's hearing, Walton told the court he had received "harassing" and "hateful" messages.

"In the interest of full disclosure, I have received a number of harassing, angry and mean-spirited phone calls and messages. Some wishing bad things on me and my family," the judge said. "Those types of things will have no impact."

"I initially threw them away, but then there were more, some that were more hateful," Walton said. "They are being kept."

1. Harassing a federal judge- NEVER a good idea. NEVER.
Stupid FReepers might find out just how SERIOUS the repercussions
of such actions can be.

3. it's not the freepers but the elitists who think he did nothing bad
the freepers are law and order defenders, it's the enron types who believe they are above the law

4. DId these idiots really think
that the judge would think "Oh, I'm scared. I'd better keep Libby our of jail." ?

I hope the judge turns the letters over to the Feds and they catch a few of these creeps.

6. I'd like to welcome the judge to join a very large group
of individuals that have taken principled stands and have found themselves at the end of the right wing noise machines hate list.

Remember the waitress who caught the Bush twins trying to buy liquor while underage, and reported them?

7. I did not get the impression that he was angry.
He just stated full disclosure. Judge Walton does not strike the observer as given to outbursts of anger. He is obviously concerned for his life, but he knows he has the best protection the country can provide, and a strong FBI contingent to investigate terrorist threats.

He is actually quite even-tempered for a brilliant man! Most guys that intelligent are impatient with histrionics, but the Honorable Judge Walton has the patience of a saint. His rulings and footnotes occasionally respond with an arguably caustic tone, but not because he has a shred of fear in him. He rests as easily as Doctor "I don't fear any man!" Martin Luther King, Junior. He knows the Law, and every half-assed litigator in the country knows it.

I am sure he has an intensive psychological profile done on him by Homeland Security, or some other government entity, otherwise he would not been appointed to the FISA court.

Nope - the only thing these cards and letters and phone-messages are going to accomplish is crimial charges!

8. To the remaining Republicans, the Wild West is ever present and generalised
throughout the country. If that's how the rest of the world sees the US, it's all down to the multitudinous bottom-feeders of the Republican party. They lend themselves to violence so readily.

11. His judgement was delivered in the basis of law
not in retaliation.
I'd sure hate for THAT rumor to become grist for the mill.

12. Correct.
The response to the threatening notes is found in Judge Walton's turning them over to the proper authorities. They played no role in Scooter's sentence.
