Florida Missing Woman.

MIAMI, Florida (CNN) -- Police in South Florida are searching hundreds of canals and a huge area of wetlands for a car that could provide vital clues in the case of a young woman who vanished three weeks ago.

Stepha Henry, 22, disappeared after going to a party at a nightclub in Sunrise, Florida.

Has anyone seen this yet in the MSM news cycle?

2. Hey, she's not white!!!!
I don't know about the MSM; I don't watch very much of it. At least it's not missing white woman syndrome...

6. Ain't that something? I notices that she's not blonde and her eyes
don't appear to be blue...Ain't that a blip? :sarcasm: It's a damn shame that we notice the fact that she isn't white in relation to her missing status. What's happened to my country?

3. I've seen it on both the CM and local (Orlando) news in the last week or so
They still took their time reporting it.

4. I haven't seen it, and I hope I don't, but then, I'm on the West Coast. . .
and we've plenty of missing women and children on this side of the continent that I'd hope the local news would cover, seeing as how there's a possibility we might be able to assist in their recovery but next to nothing we can do for a missing woman three thousand miles away.

I wish her searchers good speed in their effort, and hope one day we'll have a much better way to handle such incidents, but until we do I wish the media would spend more time adressing all the missing people in the local area and not saturate the nation with reports on but a select few.

Brooklyn, NY native, Stepha Henry, missing in Miami

http://www.miamiherald.com/460/story/130052.html">Police step up hunt for missing graduate

Officers renewed an appeal for clues to the whereabouts of Stepha Henry, 22, who was last seen

out in Miami on Memorial Day weekend.

BY DAVID OVALLE

dovalle@MiamiHerald.com

After an annual Memorial Day weekend trip to Miami, Stepha Henry, 22, got into a friend's car headed to a club.

She has yet to reappear.

A week ago, Henry's 16-year-old sister flew back to New York alone.

Police renewed their efforts Tuesday for tips that might lead to Henry, who was last seen getting into a black sedan, possibly a four-door Acura, about 1 a.m. May 29.

Henry, a recent graduate of John Jay College of Criminal Justice, had been staying with her aunt in Miami Gardens.

She told family members a friend she had previously known was going to take her to the nightclub at Peppers Cafe, 3828 N. University Dr., in Fort Lauderdale.

''She gave the impression it was just a ride,'' cousin Karen Clarke said from New York. ``It wasn't like a date or anything.''

It was unclear if Henry ever made it to the club.

The petite red-haired woman was last seen wearing a black dress with a white T-shirt underneath.

Calls to her cellphone went straight to voice mail, her cousin said.

Born in Trinidad and raised mostly in Brooklyn, Henry aspired to become a lawyer.

She earned a bachelor's degree in criminal justice and a minor in psychology.

Henry had just taken a job at the school's enrollment management office.

Henry came to Miami-Dade every year for Memorial Day weekend celebrations.

This year, her 16-year-old sister tagged along.

Her young sister stayed home the night she disappeared.

''We've had investigators working on this around the clock,'' said Miami-Dade Detective Roy Rutland. ``We're taking this investigation very seriously.''

A vigil will be held today at the college campus in New York, the school said in a news release Tuesday.

7. Any evidence whatsoever this woman has been taken from Florida?
Any reason whatsoever to be believe she's been brought to California?

No. No reason whatsoever at this time to believe there's anything anyone can do about this situation here on the West Coast.

What would you have us do? What can anyone possibly do, here on the West Coast, to further this investigation?

And yet, statistics -- and my local news, on occasion -- tell me there must be dozens of young women and children (and hey, some old folk, too), who are missing right here in my corner of the planet, close enough that I might have an opportunity -- given enough iinformation -- to have a positive impact on one of their situations.

Don't you believe it better that local situations be given priority, and the emphasis not be put just on those whose personal attributes or particular circumstances make them a compelling story?

10. No, I think that people move around and travel all the time
and there could be a chance someone knows something, from somewhere.

It's possible. I don't have any problem with a 1 minute blurb on the

news about anybody being abducted and/or missing. No sweat off my brow!

Why does it bother you so much? Seems trivial, to me.

If course, I don't watch TV 24/7 and I don't buy cable or satellite services.

If that's your complaint, then stop buying it! You get what you pay for! ;)

13. The California AG lists 1,980 missing people in Los Angeles. . .
while LA County lists another 780 -- these are both children and adults -- many of whom disappeared under suspicious circumstances, while others were abducted by family and some are runaways. In a very limited news cycle, however (and like you, I don't watch the news, but unlike you, I can still recognize its limitations), in that limited news cycle, you'd rather the news cover the disappearance of a young woman in Florida and the missing here in California be damned. Interesting perspective. I disagree, but then, on this issue I approach the world differently than you.

14. I didn't say local be damned! I said cover all of them!!!
Edited on Sun Jun-17-07 03:32 PM by Breeze54
But an abduction by stranger is news worthy!

I do watch the news and I never said I didn't. I don't watch 24/7.

I do recognize the limitations, hence my 1 min. blurb comment.

Missing local people are covered on my local news all the time!!!!

So are abducted people from across the country.

Perhaps you're beef is with your local news sources??

ON EDIT:

How the fuck would you have a clue as to how I approach the world?

And how would you know the difference from you and me??

Are you off your meds??

Relax and have a cold drink. I think the heat is getting to you.

8. It has been on the Today Show
There was quite a long piece on her disappearance on Wednesday (could have been Thursday?) morning.

Of course, being in Florida, I have also seen it on all local MSM outlets.

for John Jay College of Criminal Justice.
