Major project to address homelessness
http://www.tulsaworld.com/news/article.aspx?articleID=070617_1_A1_spanc56725

Tulsa is on the cusp of eliminating chronic homelessness with Mayor Kathy Taylor backing a unique nonprofit and philanthropic project.

With the BOK Center set to open in September 2008 and other ongoing improvements in downtown Tulsa, a coalition of philanthropists, nonprofits and city officials are supporting a model that would place nearly 600 homeless people into permanent housing.

The first units in the project are expected to be operating within a year.

"From a humanitarian standpoint, it is vital to address the issue and there is also a cost benefit," Taylor said.

1. I am proud and honored to recommend this thread!
Thank you for posting this.

Every major city in America should have a project like this. I always say there is no reason for anyone in America to hungry and/or without a safe and decent place to live.

Bravo, Tulsa!

TC

6. Another step to recovering from the Reagan Legacy
When a president chooses to 'solve' the mental health issues by closing the places that housed them, this is what has to happen to get past it. Kudos to Tulsa's mayor.
