Question for Hillary supporters
What do you like about her? Why would she make a good president? Non-Hillary supporters please do not respond. I want this to be informative and not a flame war. If you feel you must counter this, please start your own thread.

1. She has a good looking ass.
Just trying to get your attention. How about the fact that she is very intelligent and knowledgeable. She is also an excellent diplomat and has common sense. Of course like everyone else she has negatives but not to the extent of Bush.

2. She's got chutzpah
she stood up to the right wing for 8+ years, then, at a time when ANYBODY could be forgiven for taking a break from public life, she did the opposite - she ran for a senate seat in one of the toughest states in the country and won.

By all accounts, she's a very effective, capable Senator who works very hard, and has earned the admiration of her colleagues, even those who tried to destroy her during Bill's presidency.

I love that she pisses off the right so much. I love that she and her husband have this habit of WINNING.

4. Unlike Bush, Hillery has a backbone.
She also has a great sense of humor.

8. "toughest states in the country" ?
I think Arkansas, Tennessee, or North Carolina would be alot tougher for a Democrat. I am still peeved at her being 'given' the nomination for Senate along with the fact of her not being from New York. Having celebrities appointed to Senate seats is one of the major things wrong with this country.

9. New York is very difficult, politically....
and extremely expensive.

She won the seat - if you don't like New York's laws, move there and try to change them.

3. she is female....
Edited on Sun Jun-17-07 02:04 PM by mike_c
I'll preface this remark by acknowledging that I'm NOT a Clinton supporter at all, but in the spirit of your OP I'd like to point out something positive about her.

I REALLY want a woman in the White House. Think about it-- for this nation's entire history, more than 50 percent of our population has been excluded from executive leadership-- women, racial minorities, and the professed non-religious, among others. But women comprise the largest proportion of that excluded group by far.

Clinton's negatives far outweigh her positives for me, but DAMN I'd like to see that gender barrier broken. So from my perspective, her overwhelmingly most positive attribute is being female.

5. Being female is a negative only if you are a fundamentalist.

6. Hillary understands that terrorism is a real threat
She is not my first choice because her history makes it difficult for her to win.

I am disappointed with Democrat candidates who casually dismiss the threat from terrorism as if it does not exist. Anyone who is weak on national security will not be elected President.

Hillary has emerged as the strongest Democrat candidate on national security issues. She said that America would strongly retaliate against another terrorist attack if she was President. She seems to understand that we need a strong military leader.

I wish other candidates would take a stronger stand on national security. Currently, Hillary has my vote (reluctantly).

12. Not Sure I'm Clear
Which dem candidate has not said they would retaliate if attacked? I cannot think of one politician at any time in my life, even George McGovern, who would not engage in retribution if the country was attacked. Which dem has unequivocally said they oppose the use of force in all situations? My guess is none.

So, your stance is confusing, at best.

7. When you start a thread in General Discussion, like it or not, you will get what you get.
Dictating parameters and conditions will do no good. Lots of luck though.
