Speaking of universal health care....

are we, the taxpayers, currently funding a national health care system in Iraq?

I haven't looked into this, but wouldn't be surprised if that were the case. And the irony...oh, the irony...of the Bush Admin instituting a health care system in Iraq that they wouldn't support here.

Along these same lines, it's boggling to listen to these people defend their position of all kinds of government-funded programs in Iraq, while simultaneously dismissing the need for the same type of emergency relief in New Orleans. (I'm speaking here of the recent call by some wingnuts to pull the FEMA trailers out of the NOLA area.)

Anyway, if you know the answer to the health care in Iraq question, chime in. Thanks.

individuals held at Guantanamo Bay in Cuba have all of their medical needs taken care of by the U.S. government. In fact they get better medical attention than you or I do all at taxpayer expense. Found a website that talks about this as well:
