If Bush does another "pre-emptive" attack, should Congress impeach?
Some Congressmen and Senators have said publically that Bush needs Congressional approval to attack Iran. If the past is any record, Bush is ignoring all of them. He only listens to the voices in his own little head. He knows more than anyone else. Not only that, he knows more than all of them all together. A truly brilliant man! :sarcasm:

In my opinion, the Congress should make a public statement about this. They should request that the Republicans go along with them. Of course, the Mitch McConnell types will argue that it would tie the hands of the Commander in Chief. In fact, it would not tie his hands - it would put a leash on his attack dog policies. The wisdom of the Congress as a whole is not superseded by that of any one man. The Founders realized that. The Republican Party seems not to understand that. For them, the Commander in Chief is omnipotent.

1. Congress made a very vocal statement about Iraq:
They voted for it.

Let's hope they've learned something.

2. Of course they should
The question is Would they. And judging by the noises they've been making about all his other impeachable offenses, I'd say the answer is no, they wouldn't.

3. Of course they should
Gosh, they should have started proceedings already. Congress should send a clear message that they won't approve of any more "adventures" and that if the president trips that wire they will take action. This is not about tying his hands, it is about reasserting their constitutional prerogative to declare war.

4. In the most irritatingly whining tone...Dem's don't have TIME to impeach
there are too many things that are more important.

5. But would this put Bush on the defensive?
Could this be the first move in taking the power to make war out of his hands? If nothing else, for public consumption?

6. What and ruin a perfect record!
This congress can't even imagine the power they have to Impeach. There's no way these nutless wonders will Impeach the Evil empire. Forget it folks the pukes were right they can do whatever they want. Until someone with some guts shows up it's just "Wait and SEE".

7. Congress should go on record now that anyone following an
order to attack Iraq without a declaration of war would be obeying an illegal order and would suffer all the consequences that would follow from that.

9. The resurrection of Operation Northwoods, or something akin to it...
If blame for a homegrown terrorist attack was pinned on Iran, Congress would have no choice BUT to go along with an attack plan against Iran. I fear this will be the neocon's end-run around congress...:(

10. Yep...
They have already started provoking the Iranians in Iraq. If it spreads beyond the border of Iraq, Bush does not have that authority. Congress should draw this line in the sand.

12. They should make the public statement now.
Before he attacks Iran. This would garner public support before he kills again.

14. It could serve as the spark. The S.O.B. has committed so many
impeachable offenses, they could limit the hearings to one afternoon and have the case in the Senate's hands by that evening.
