Cooper To Fox: "That's The Difference Between Talking About News & Reporting It"

CNN's Anderson Cooper rubbed it in Fox's face on Monday night.

"Barack Obama's Muslim education in Indonesia -- others are reporting the heat. We are sticking to the facts," he teased on 360 last night.

Then, introing John Vause's segment, he said: "Other news organizations ran with Insight's story. They didn't check the facts. We did."

And after the package, Cooper concluded: "Well, that's the difference between talking about news and reporting it. You send a reporter, check the facts and you decide at home."

2. Gimme a break, CNN. Where were you when the DSM was
first reported, when the swiftboaters were swiftboating, when marches on DC were happening, there are so many examples where CNN has been so incurious or deliberate in not reporting news. They need to get off their throne; they are as guilty as every other corporate news outlet.

6. IIRC, CNN was allowing the Iraqi government to censor
the news that came out of their Baghdad office for many years before the current war. Stories about Saddam's "overwhelming support", like him getting 99% of the vote were run like actual news, stories about people disappearing, torture or corruption were never printed. This was the price CNN had to pay to be allowed to remain in the country, and their "journalistic integrity" didn't seem to get in the way, then.

8. 'Tis true
... but, as I do with my children, I want to give them praise/ positive reinforcement when they are right ... in the hopes that they'll strive for this more often.

5. See the difference when the report about a democrat
Remember the brohaha when Dan Rather reported about bush's cut and run when he was in the guard. The memo was not genuine but the information was. But the press made a big to do about the fact the Rather did not check the facts. It was about a republican.

Now do you see where the press is screaming and ranting at Fox because they are reporting false information, not just genuine information in a bad format. Oh I forgot Obama is a democrat is is OK to fictionilize news about him.

THEY HAVE GOT TO PASS THAT NEW FAIRNESS DOCTRINE AND INFORCE IT.

7. Good for him but this should be done ALL the time not just sometimes.
CNN missed many opportunities to set the facts straight over the years. I hope fact-finding on ALL stories will become a new policy with them.

9. in_cog_ni_to to Anderson Cooper and CNN:
INVESTIGATE EVERY BOGUS SMEAR THAT COMES YOUR WAY! HAD YOU DONE THIS FOR JOHN KERRY WHEN HE WAS SWIFTBOATED, PERHAPS HE'D BE OUR PRESIDENT AND WE WOULDN'T BE IN THE FREAKIN' MESS WE'RE NOW IN!

Investigate everything! If it looks like crap and smells like crap...it's probably crap! INVESTIGATE. QUESTION EVERYTHING.

It's about time you did your job.

13. Hell, we would have had President Gore
if they had reported the news honestly and fairly.

But, the media just "delighted" in making Gore into a serial exaggerator and someone who was just too smart, while St. * was a great guy everyone(?) would rather have a beer with.

12. Nice.
Good for AC. I really do like him (no, not just because he's cute and his mom is Gloria Vanderbilt ;)) - he seems to have a real sense of integrity, which showed during Katrina as well. I hope he does this more often. :)
