Any links to the South Carolina firemen telling Rudy
Edited on Fri Jun-22-07 07:37 PM by malaise
he was not speaking at their memorial service. Couldn't happen to a nicer person. Rudy is a cold-blooded opportunist. Fuck you Rudy!

Heard it on KO.

Edit: Change North to South :D

Edited on Fri Jun-22-07 07:38 PM by malaise
International association of firemen overruled Carolina firemen. Wow!! One of Rudy's boys organized the memorial. Raw politics -

Rachel Maddow is brilliant.

Edit: add.

7. according to Olberman, Jim Bowie of South Carolina Firefighters Association,

who endorsed Giuliani, ARRANGED to have Giuliani speak, but the international firefighters' union strongly objected to having him on the dais, so he was uninvited.

I googled this story several different ways, but found no mention. I have it on tape from this show, though.

Rachel Maddow is discussing how many many firefighters LOATHE him

9. and WHY is there no mention of Giuliani's CRACK DEALING South Carolina campaign
Edited on Fri Jun-22-07 07:47 PM by Gabi Hayes
chairman's arrest?

somebody here also linked to the effect that the M$M has CHANGED the story to reflect that Ravenel was indicted for dealing cocaine, instead of CRACK, because the legal distinction is quite broad, and, apparently severely racially tainted, with rock dealers getting substantially harder/longer time than those who traffic in powder.

care to guess which is which?

13. Giuliani is going down with the rest of rats
They're all going down. They're close to the trap. Shortly the last piece of the puzzle will fall into place. The gig is up -even diversion won't work this time.

Fugg him and his crackhead chairman. Their job is to get more black men off the voters roll by sending them to prison.

remains at his job of the SC Firefighters Association? I bet the original Jim Bowie lasted longer at the Alamo.

14. Not only was Giuliani NOT allowed to speak,
the presidential candidates were given seats in the back of the coliseum, far from the grieving families.

15. They should no have been allowed in in the first palce....
every thinking human being would knopw that it is nothing more tahn a political stunt for any candidate.

As for the families, they deserve to be left alone by the Press, and especially by self serving poiticians.

The Ghoul is despised by nearly ever entity in NTC Gov't. He was always nothing more than a self serving creep that went far out his way to ensure ANY credit for a success was given to him, and not to the person(s) that actually did the work...typical GOP tactic, but the Ghoul took it to new depths.

He's a complete asshole.

I doubt Mayor Riley would have been thrilled at the mere thought of Ghouliani speaking at the memorial service.

21. I'm willing to bet that the Chief of the FD made it known that...
the Ghoul wasn't welcome.

From what I saw on PBS last night, the Fire Chief was a class act. Nothing political, nothing but praise for the firefighters who lost their lives and a man who ensured that dignity, honor and humanity melded together in honoring those lost. Something the Ghoul could never have accomplished. This was a memorial for the fallen, not grandstanding for the falling...:)

24. Rusty Thomas IS a class act
I'm glad Giuliani wasn't allowed to use this tragedy as a campaign tool, but I'm pissed off that the Homeland Security chief spoke at the memorial service.

memorial, the part w/ Rusty. I was impressed, very impressed.

As a former Volunteer Firefighter on Shelter Island NY, many years ago, I felt a kinship with these Firefighters. It was a dignified and beautiful service, the part I got to see anyway.

Chief Rusty Thomas did what we all hope would happen under the circumstances...May those who died RIP...

26. From the LA Times "Giuliani foes see another side to his 9/11 activities"
Giuliani foes see another side to his 9/11 activities
Los Angeles Times (04/08/07); Wallsten, Peter

Rudy Giuliani has used his actions during and following the September 11 attacks in New York to move him to the top of the polls in the race for the Republican presidential nomination, but some groups at the center of the 9/11 experience are laying aggressive plans to tarnish that image and undermine a central pillar of his candidacy. The International Association of Fire Fighters, along with some relatives of September 11 victims, say they will publicly attack decisions Giuliani made as New York mayor before and after the terrorist strikes. So far, the IAFF, the country's biggest fire fighter union, says it will aim its anti-Giuliani effort at its own 280,000 members. But IAFF President Harold A. Schaitberger said the group will also "stand ready" to support a much more public campaign by families of fire fighters and workers who died in the World Trade Center. The union's actions are among several threats that could put Giuliani on the defensive in discussing the very aspect of his record that defines his national persona. Lawyers want to question the former mayor under oath as part of a federal lawsuit alleging that the city negligently dumped body parts and other human remains from ground zero in the Fresh Kills garbage facility on Staten Island.

27. Giuliani admitted he was given advance warning of WTC collapse
Giuliani admitted to Peter Jennings of ABC that he was given advance warning of the collapse of the Twin Towers, something that the firemen never got. You can hear Giuliani make this admission at the 53 minute mark of this video:
