Uh, he needs his mother and wife to "tell" him this? Good gravy.

=====

...Officials say Mr Bush, who also has said he wants to close the jail as soon as possible, is keenly aware of its shortcomings. His wife, Laura, and mother, the former first lady Barbara Bush, have told him Guantanamo is a blot on the US record abroad, particularly in Muslim and European nations....

3. What scapegoats? It's certainly a true statement.
I just don't understand why it took his relatives to counsel him on this obvious fact. What is Karen Hughes being paid big bucks for?

18. I won't argue BB that women often enable and protect such abominable behavior.
Their conditioning has been to protect their wealthy male - they are conditioned to believe they are nothing without him.

5. Barney has spoken off the record, too
He's actually shit all over Bush's plans, but the MSM has been silent on his output.

7. Look, Laura is one thing - but it 's Babs that raised the Devils
I always thought GHWB's presidency was a disaster, but I didn't know what a disaster was back then, apparently. Somebody turned W, Jeb and Neil into the horrific non-humans they are, and it must have been Babs. Barbara Bush is ultimately perhaps the worst parent in American history, given her impact - some of it intentional, some not. I am not saying John Wilkes Booth here in terms of awfulness, but in terms of impact, by 2050, given that it is inevitable that historians judge W's presidency the worst by multiples of 10, Babs must be the worst parent.

Here is how her granddaughter and namesake showed up for a photo op in church last year. Must have been a big Saturday night.

11. This is one time I'll request acknowledgement of both women.
If they said it, I'll thank them BOTH. If he not only receives and acknowledges it but also ACTS on it by closing that hell-hole down, I'll be the first to thank the three of them.

I am capable of doing that in spite of everything.

Barbara and Laura can both lay claim to George the Worst. I suggest they band together and shut him down.

13. screw the "image"- Git mo is a violation against human
'kind'-

I believe that *'s wife and mother did say this. They don't voice their objection to the things we are doing to other humans- the way they are being abused, the criminal confinement and imprisonment- they don't like the fucking "image" it gives us.

I'm glad they are putting pressure on *- I doubt he'd be closing Git-mo because it is wrong, but rather because it makes him look bad- this crap will probably simply go underground.

whatever the reason- it must be closed down.

16. With nonsense like this being leaked out, you gotta wonder how bad Guantanamo
has been, probably way worse than is known. I suspect that the wholesale arrest and torture of innocents has been used as cover, by Cheney and Rumsfeld, for targeted tortures and murders, to eliminate evidence, witnesses and potential whistleblowers on their many, many crimes, for 'disappearing' potential legitimate leaders in Iraq and Afghanistan, for interfering with other governments' terrorists investigations (for instance, to keep the Bush Cartel money trail to Al Qaeda covered up), and possibly even for doing favors for their global corporate predator buds.

Really, a leak like this is not an accident, and it is not what it appears to me. If Laura and Barbara said these things at all--a big if--they no doubt are cooperating in a plan to try to save Junior from blame for outrages that were designed and instigated by Cheney and Rumsfeld, or that they want people to believe were Cheney/Rumsfeld's doing. I'd say we might be about to see a bombshell on this subject. Gen. Taguba's recent disclosures about the top brass involvement--including Rumsfeld--on the Abu Ghraib torture, and his description of feeling like the Pentagon was the mafia, may be a hint of what lay beneath the surface of this most criminal regime.
