I don't wish anyone's death...
but how in the world will Larry King ever be removed from my television screen? CNN, once the go-to news channel, now runs this guy and his lowbrow dreck about 60% of the time I tune in. He doesn't seem to have any intention of retiring; he must work cheap 'cause he's on hour after hour, and there's no subject too vacuous or tawdry for his guest list.

They wouldn't replace him with someone just as bad, would they? How could they?

1. I'm not sure why, but Kings ratings are still quite high.
CNN is NOT going to get rid of any moneymaker!

4. You have the power to "remove" YOURSELF from your television screen.
If you don't like what's on, turn the damn thing off and find something else to do. :eyes:

5. That's the standard Libertarian response,
and yes, I know how to turn the screen off and do other things, and so on, but the post is about Larry King and his ubiquity. Thanks for playing, though.

7. "Take personal responsibility and we won't hold corporations responsible for what they do."
- That's the basic Libertarian saying, and while it's always good advice to be responsible for your own actions, there are social ills that are caused by and aggravated by the actions of powerful interests. Those interests don't want to be held accountable; they want everyone to "take personal responsibility."

"Just turn off your T.V."

"You raise your kids and I'll raise mine."

"Nobody's making you eat unhealthy food."

"Wear a seat belt if you want, but don't tell me what to do."

11. But by NOT watching that drivil...
You ARE making a statement... you won't be counted among the idiots who DO watch.

How you extrapolated the rest of this garbage is beyond me.

8. I've been called lots of things, but this is the 1st time I've ever been called a "libertarian".
...the post is about Larry King and his ubiquity.

Not really, it's about how "his ubiquity" annoys you. And annoys you to such a degree that you feel it necessary to post a disclaimer that you don't really wish he'd die -- leaving the obvious BUT discreetly unspoken. You wouldn't have found it necessary to structure your post in this way if you hadn't been entertaining just such a thought.

I don't have cable/satellite TV, therefore I am blissfully free of all sorts of self-inflicted annoyances. I am quite confident that I could do without TV altogether and still remain better informed -- thanks to the internet -- than the vast majority of cable-watching Americans.

On the other hand, heaven forbid that I interfere with your 'murikan right to be annoyed by something that is completely voluntary.

Carry on...

9. Why are you still watching CNN?
They are no longer worth their salt...

I haven't paid for cable news in years. I don't care for what they think is news.

13. I guess I still automatically turn it on when I'm looking for TV news.
They used to call themselves "Cable News Network," and it was somewhat of a default channel for not only what was "breaking," but for political and international news as well. Now it's almost as right-wing as Fox, and even more empty. I suppose I'm living in the past.
