High School Seniors Hand Bush Letter Urging Him To Ban The Use Of torture
Edited on Mon Jun-25-07 09:28 PM by kpete
Scholars urge Bush to ban use of torture
THE ASSOCIATED PRESS

WASHINGTON -- President Bush was presented with a letter Monday signed by 50 high school seniors in the Presidential Scholars program urging a halt to "violations of the human rights" of terror suspects held by the United States.

The White House said Bush had not expected the letter but took a moment to read it and talk with a young woman who handed it to him.

The handwritten letter said the students "believe we have a responsibility to voice our convictions."

"We do not want America to represent torture. We urge you to do all in your power to stop violations of the human rights of detainees, to cease illegal renditions, and to apply the Geneva Convention to all detainees, including those designated enemy combatants," the letter said.

7. Keith on Countdown tonight gave the kids applause for having the
guts to do what 100 Senators, 435 Representatives, a Supreme Court, Cabinet full of sycophants and 500,00 government employees couldn't do - tell Chucklenuts that torture is wrong and the US shouldn't do it. Guess those kids just pissed off their chance at early entrance into the Young Republicans. Bravo, kids, bravo.

10. Great job, kids. Sadly, they're now on the "Dick List"
Dick Vader will ensure that they have a hard time getting a job in government or any business sector where he has clout. I suspect they understood this and went ahead anyway.

KO's right...they are heroes.
