80%, but I hadn't gotten my first transistor radio yet. I declare victory.

5. It's still some of my favorite music. 1967 was a very good year (except for the riots).

Motown was booming and the music was everywhere. I had my first pervertible, was in love, and was working! Everything was beautiful.

8. I got 90% but I owned an unhip car then: a 1961 Mercedes 180D
which burned aromatic diesel fuel. I finally got a cool VW Beetle during the Reagan administration when they were unhip. Jeeze.

9. '67?
or '17

Bill Pester at this palm log cabin in Palm Canyon, California, 1917. With his "lebensreform" philosophy, nudism and raw foods diet, he was one of the many German immigrants, who "invented" the hippie lifestyle more than half a century before the 1960s. He left Germany to avoid military service in 1906 at age 19, for a new life in America. (Photo Courtesy of Collection Palm Springs Desert Museum, Palm Springs, California)

11. I can't believe I missed one
It sucks when you've got people that played in three of the choices available and an alcohol soaked brain. I have to admit it was fun, but all the questions were about music and the "summer of love" was much more than that.

15. Watch "Monterey 40" believe it or not...its extremely accurate...not too much bullshit
Edited on Tue Jun-26-07 04:27 AM by LaPera
One will get a large feeling of Owsley there....and those who were there in SF (Diggers, KMPX, the Avalon, Fillmore music, Graham, the Haight at its best before the media exploitation, free sounds from the flatbeds in the panhandle, Wes Wilson posters, the political awareness of UC Berkeley & Oakland, etc.)...surprisingly descent...on VH1 of all places...it won't make you want to throw up...Truly its very Monterey & SF crazy done correctly & accurately!! Even though it's done from an LA perspective...All the "taboos" we accept today were broken...
