Here in silence are 16 more
last night it was 20. I look at each face and wonder... What caused them to enlist? How did they die? Who is left behind to mourn them? When will this end?

4. 16 or 20 and it's barely acknowledged....
If BushCo had said, "We're going to war and five years from now we'll be losing 16 Americans a day," what are the chances even the coldest Rethug would have thought is was a good idea?

It just makes me so sick. :(

5. My extended family has someone over there.
He was just following his father's shoes (retired air force). Hopefully he'll make it through this war and occupation for big oil.

6. I just can't read all the deaths anymore
I skim over them now. If I think about it too much my mind starts picturing my brother's wife and kids with some officer walking up the walkway.

Gotta stay positive so family doesn't have a nervous break-down.

When will the madness end?

8. Bless Jim Lehrer and Gwen Ifill. I make it a point to read each name, look at each face...
They are so young, most of them. For each one that dies, a family's heart is ripped out.

11. "And here in silence are XX more. We add them as their names and pictures are made available."
That's PBS's Jim Lehrer's line at the end of the evening news. Gwen Ifill reports with him, and also heads up Washington Week in Review.

I noticed that I hadn't mentioned the source at all in my OP. D'OH!

I'd just seen today's faces and was so overcome by them that I forgot. Thanks for providing it.

I remarked that was good timing. He still has friends in the service and is sick about the war, very opposed and angry. I said "support the troops, bring them home NOW" and he is all for it. I even remarked that the politicians There's another 16 priceless reasons to demand the war pigs cease and desist.

15. What were their struggles and triumphs? What were their biggest lessons from living?
Did they leave love behind in anguish and untellable dispair?

16. What were their dreams and aspirations?
Why did they decide to join the military? Love of country? Belief in the cause? Loyalty to *? A job? I think of the mothers crying that their sweet baby is gone.
