A Kansas City police officer who allegedly wedged his nightstick into a handcuffed man’s mouth last November should lose his job, Police Chief Jim Corwin said Tuesday.

The officer also choked the man, pulled his hair and pressed his face against a patrol car’s hood — all because he believed the man had hidden crack cocaine in his mouth.

Corwin announced his firing recommendation Tuesday and released a videotape of the encounter recorded by the officer’s in-car camera. Later in the day, Corwin called the officer’s behavior unacceptable.

“When people are treated that poorly, it’s very disappointing,” he said. “It’s my job to make sure that doesn’t happen.”

Just the other day, I saw the exact same thing happen on that show "Cops."

Maybe it was the same incident.

"KC police chief recommends officer be fired for cramming his night stick down suspects throat", and "When people are treated that poorly": Wonder why, did it damage the night stick? :sarcasm: I would think the Chief would have something better than "Treated poorly" to say about the out of control criminal thug he has there, I suspect that this "cop" prob has a long history of that kind of thing. .

would your employer need a "recommendation" that you be fired?

A little "stick time" now and then helps LEO's to unwind during their stressful day. It appears there's nothing quite as satisfying as beating a "bad-guy" with a length of fine, lacquered wood after a long day spent on patrol or filling out police reports. Anyone who disagrees can get a badge and try it sometime - I hear that sector of our economy is doing quite a bit of hiring these days.

It's a growth industry.
