Why Ann Coulter is your friend. Really.
Edited on Wed Jun-27-07 12:04 PM by SoonerPride
At first blush, listening to that hag spew her hate and bile is enough to make you throw a shoe through your TV.

You get mad at the MSM giving her airtime. She adds nothing of substance to the discourse. She resorts to the most ludicrous personal attacks.

She is disgusting.

However, she is your best friend.
Really, she is.
You should encourage her appearance on as many outlets as possible.

WHY, you ask?

Why would I want to give that sick piece of filth another second of exposure?

Because she is the face of the Republican party.
Because she is the best single recruiting tool we have to persuade America that the right wing is batshit crazy and that Democrats offer a sensible, reasonable, RESPECTABLE alternative to the kind of hate-filled speech she engages in.

Thus, as unpleasant as it might be, I urge you to resist your inner voice which screams at you to get a gun and off that dog, but instead to embrace her as the best damned recruiting tool we've ever seen.

She might single-handedly swell the Democratic coffers from full to bursting.

All hail Ann Coulter (gag).

2. In a sense I agree with you
but the part that is very troubling to me is that there doesn't appear to be anyone in the media who is able to articulate the fact that she is the voice of the Republican party or to challenge her on the things she says.

5. Thus, the need for Elizabeth Edwards to engage her directly.
Edited on Wed Jun-27-07 11:43 AM by SoonerPride
All that needs to happen is for reasonable people to engage her.

It makes Ann look all the more foolish and Democrats all the more a reasonable alternative.

Simply ask Ann to debate the issues and raise the tenor of her discourse and she'll wallow even deeper in mud and shit.

Thus, we win and the right will be further embarrassed by that nutcase.

3. My fear is that only those who hate her are intelligent enough to understand your point.
Edited on Wed Jun-27-07 11:14 AM by AndyA
The fact that she is on these shows will give her credibility to many, who do not question what they are told. Those are the people we need to worry about. They are the ones who will sit there listening to her, supposedly on a "liberal" show like Hardball, and they will believe everything she says.

I'm not worried about you or me, I'm worried about all of those who are so easily influenced by what they see and hear in the media.

They just might believe what she says is the truth, because all too often there is no one there to contradict what she says.

Did you hear the laughter after
Tweety called her down on her statement on Hillary's chubby legs? That was just plain mean. Oh, then it really is the face of the Repuke party!

16. Did you see the pudgy fan behind Coulter chuckling?
There was a young blond girl behind Coulter (one of coulter's fan) sneering and laughing throughout the interview --she herself was a pudgy individual with a double chin, but she seemed to find her hero's *fat remarks* highly amusing.

I wondered at that time if the girl who found Coulter so enchanting has looked in a mirror lately?

Additionally there was another Coulter fan standing behind Coulter (next to the pudgy blond kid)
who either didn't have a bra on, or was wearing one that didn't do the job, because her shirt was pretty much see through (I didn't care to see the woman's nipple but it was like Seinfeld and the Elaine Xmas card episode, it was impossible to miss)

I thought to myself and THESE are the people that made such a production over Kerry's daughter's "flash bulb made the dress see through" incident?

Oh the irony--behind Coulter on one side a portly devotee yucks it up over Ann's fat jokes while
on Ann's other side "the nipple seen round the globe" stood in support (excuse the pun) for her hero.

You just cannot make this stuff up!

10. ha ha, yeah
she could do a good parody show for Comedy Central. I realize Colbert has done it, but I'm sure there'd be room for Ann since she has a unique appeal in the right wing freak parade. She could make the money she complains about not having, relative to Elizabeth Edwards.

Tell Ann she can flip anytime and pass it all off as a joke.

8. I agree
She is the face of the Republican Party.

The only problem I have with her is that she validates peoples' worst beliefs. She makes hate mainstream. That's why people buy her books - for validation.

12. I've been saying this for years, that...
nobody takes her seriously and she does more damage to her side than a hundred leftwing bloviating bloggers or Air America tongue waggers.

So far her audience has been her fans and hysterical Democrats who think she signifies the end of western civilization. Nobody else knew who she was until she made the news with her more outrageous bullshit.

Now, everybody knows she's a shrill comic with an acid tongue and that's all she is. Unlike other political commentators, all she has is the meanness without the real wit ands that is not lost on the general public.

Instead of all this whining, we should be paying her for making us look good.

14. We need to make sure that she is seen as the face of the repuke party.
Edited on Wed Jun-27-07 11:49 AM by Skip Intro
I have a die-hard bush/repuke/conservative/neocon/superchristian co-worker who dismisses her as crazy, just nuts. I don't know if he says this to kill the idea that she speaks for the repuke party, or that he really thinks her to be nuts.

Either way, if we can successfully make her the face of the repuke party, and force on camera gouliani and thompson and the new breed of pro-corporate, anti-"the people" schemers and liars wrapped in the flag, then we must. Because America at large will reject her, and them.

19. Disagree - Ann Coulter performs her role to a "T"
Coulter's job is to be so "out there" and "controversial" that other Republics look moderate in comparison.

Coulter says John Edwards should die in a terrorist attack.

Republican politician says that he only hopes Edwards is seriously injured in the terror attack.

Voila - the mainstream media pronounces the Republic candidate to be moderate and mainstream because he isn't advocating Edwards die in a terror attack.

Back in the 1960s, it worked in reverse. Groups like SDS and the Black Panthers were to the left of most Democratic politicians, and made them look more moderate in comparison. Which is why a ton of those Ditto-heads believe the Democratic party has moved way to the left of where they were in the 60s.

Edited on Wed Jun-27-07 05:54 PM by Disturbed
She says everything that the Rethugs dare not say. She is their Leader, as some may even deny it. She got rich by spewing the bile, the hate and lies. That's why she laughs a lot.

Everything being relative, she administers an effective inoculation against right wing rhetoric that is even just slightly less disgusting than her own.
