Poll question: What should we do about the problem?
Sure, everybody worries about it. But convenational wisdom says the key to success is finding a concensus on how to deal with it. I'm not so sure about that. As that guy said, we're never going to all of us totally agree on how to fix this thing. Some will say "do this," some will say "do that." Meanwhile it just all sits there, getting worse. Maybe leadership means tackling it head on, take action, lead rather than follow. Or is that naive, just more jingoistic can-do John Wayne style New Age mumbo jumbo? After all, no man is an island. How can we fix the problem if our real world community-based stakeholders don't feel any buy-in to the solution? What I'm saying is, maybe it's about engagement... but then maybe it's really more about process instead.

What do you think? What should we do about the problem?

3. Sing a song
The Problem by JJ Cale

Have you heard the news that's going 'round here
The man in charge has got to go
Cause he dances 'round the problem, boy
And the problem is the man in charge you know

Now, the young knows what I'm talking 'bout
It's a con in the old man's game
The man in charge, he don't know what he's doing
He don't know the world has changed

Power seems to be so far up
The man on the street ain't got a clue
The high top cats running your life
Think the problem is me and you

Born in a time that has gone by
The old tell the young what to do
Have you heard the news that's going 'round here
The problem is the man in charge of you
The problem is the man in charge of you

Power seems to be so far up
The man on the street ain't got a clue
The high top cats running your life
Think the problem is me and you

Have you heard the news that's going 'round here
The man in charge has to go
The man in charge has got to go
The man in charge has to go

5. I suggest we gather the principles and have them go through a
strategic planning process. Might I suggest a Balanced Scorecard Approach?

I like shades of blue....

6. Buzz words and hype do nothing. Heavy lifting makes the world go round.
If we all work as one, we can do anything. Put your back into it and lift on 3.
