I guess the right just has no sense of context. If you're warning an enamored coworker off somebody who is out, it's perfectly OK.

However, if that isn't the sort of thing that's the case, as I suspect it rarely is in Tucker's world, it's just middle school level taunting.

Most of us left it behind, Tucker. Why can't you?

Although I did my share of speculation until a DUer dug up a picture of Coulter in fencing class that showed her as female (mousy brown hair but definitely Annie), that was the end of it. I reluctantly had to accept that two X chromosomes produced her and to suggest she had anything in common with any transsexuals anywhere was unfair and insulting to them.

Yes, pejoratives like "gay," "trannie" or "Mongoloid idiot" do splash far beyond their intended targets. Alert must be maintained for their use in irony and sarcasm, though.
