9. 'war looms over 08 november poll'
October 15, 2008 - Chicago
The crisis in iran and the five hundred millions killed by the retrograde
bird flu could never have been forseen leading up to the election. President
Rice said she'd turn over war operations to the joint cheifs before stepping
down. Nobody could have forseen the involvement of pakistan and india after
the unfortunate climate changes of the past year.
Here in chicago, last july's average temperature was 120 degrees F, but in
new delhi, it was 140, millions were lost to heatstroke and water shortages,
but nobody could have forseen that america would be voting for a war president
one who is strongly committed to staying the course of the takeover and
control of all world vital resources.

19. agreed - much of the GOP 'base' wouldn't vote for McCain
and most democrats wouldn't vote for Lieberman.

Then you have the independent middle - that is opposed to the escalation of the war - supported by both candidates. That leaves a constituency of... only the Neocons. A shrinking group and not enough to elect a president.

15. Thanks for that link......
I've heard of Smedley Butler before and "war is a racket", but ALL of that other stuff at the link is information I'd never heard/knew before. Thank you again. :-)

Don't you have something called the VOTE?

Or was the idea that there'd be some sort of parallel to the Gerald Ford presidency: i.e. Cheney resigns, Bush replaces him with McCain, Bush resigns, McCain becomes president and chooses Lieberman as VP? A bit far-fetched IMO; though all things are possible.

12. Well, we don't really vote anymore. We've automated the process.
We now have these machines that vote for us. The term "voting machine" does not refer to a machine upon which one votes, but rather a machine that votes.

17. The man calling was a Democrat and I took it to mean
McCain and Lieberman would win the same way Bush did: by monkeying with the voting machines and depressing the Democratic vote. It's happened 2 times running, why do any of us think it might not happen again? Look at the Jennings race in Florida. The Republican has been seated in the House and she has a snowball's chance in hell of overturning that election.

18. John McCain and Joe Lieberman are history as far as Pres/VP is concerned...
Just wait until the Congressional investigations reveal the greed, corruption, stealing and lying that reached epic proportions.

THe country has already made the critical turn against Bush and his PNAC backers.

The outrage is building... and McCain has hitched his horse to the wrong wagon by embracing Bush and his positions. Lieberman won't be a factor, has lost the support of Dems and will be condemned for supporting Bush and his policies in the Middle East.
