Kentucky's "Simpsons" film, which debuts on the web this week, is sure to have stiff competition from other state entries.
Illinois' Springfield has a power plant run by a man who looks a lot like Mr. Burns, Homer's boss; Vermont's video short features a giant, rolling donut;
and Massachusetts' has a cameo from Sen. Ted Kennedy, whose Bostonian accent mirrors the Simpsons' Mayor Fred Quimby.Viewers can vote for their favorite Springfield at USA Today's web site beginning Thursday, and online voting is tallied through July 9.The rest of the Springfields are in Missouri, Ohio, Oregon, Tennessee, New Jersey, Florida, Michigan, Nebraska, Colorado and Louisiana.
In Maine, Springfield didn't get involved in the contest. "We don't have a place to show a movie anyway. We're too small," said Kay Thompson, treasurer and tax collector. She says the Penobscot County town's population is about 375.

The Simpsons live in Springfield. But which Springfield? That's always been unclear.
So now, 14 cities named Springfield are competing to be the best "real-life" Springfield
and win a special yellow-carpet premiere of The SimpsonsMovie on July 26.
The winner will be determined by your votes on USATODAY.com in early July.
