Went to see "Sicko" earlier

There was a 10:20 AM showing, so I thought, "I have nothing else to do, may as well take it in now as opposed to later" and let me tell you, I think everyone in the USA needs to see this movie. Moore raises some very interesting points, not only about health insurance, but also free college educations. There were some really sad moments in this show, like when the hospital in Los Angeles was dumping people on skid row because they couldn't pay their bills. And the older couple who had to move in with their daughter because they were bankrupt. And they both had good jobs; he was a Union machinist, she a columnist for some newspaper. But they had various ailments and it broke them. The movie also went into great detail about health care in Canada, Great Britain, France, and Cuba. Yes, Cuba. All "socialized medicine" countries. Moore pointed out that Guantanamo Bay is supposed to hold some really nasty people, and they get free health care, and good health care at that. There is a whole lot more, but you should go see the movie and check it out yourself.

were the segments shot in countries with national health insurance. We appear to be such a stingy, backwards and cruel country in comparison, with an entirely backwards medical philosophy.

Get the profit motive OUT of healthcare. The experiment with for profit health care has been a DISASTER.

Our lives do depend on it. So does our country, ultimately.

I can't wait! Of course it isn't playing in my RW town so we're heading up North to see it. I'm looking forward to it.

Which is one reason I chose to go then. I suspect a lot of folks were working as there were a lot of apparent retirees there and some guy who's on vacation.

It's Moore's best effort thus far.

This movie reaffirms it.

and I'm wondering does Moore touch on preventative health measures? And how most regular doctors don't supply nutritional info at all, because really, it is to their profitable advantage to keep everyone sick?!

Not to mention the fact that if you give people prompt medical treatment that also prevents greater problems down the road. He did touch briefly on overmedication but I would have liked to have seen more emphasis on this. He didn't spend nearly enough time on the Pharmaceutical Industry. They are a large part of the problem in this country, IMO.

Not Kucinich of course...

...brilliant movie! I hope he gets another Oscar!
