Free copy of "An Inconvenient Truth" from Share the Truth
Maybe this has already been bounced around DU, but I just found it.

Copies of the DVD will be provided 100% free for the asking, funded through private donations. No strings attached.

Reading their privacy statement reveals that they also won't disclose your private info or e-mail address to anyone, nor will they generate spam to you.

If there's anyone who knows someone who would like to see the movie, but can't afford the cost, here's a chance to do something good.

3. I think there's a lot of motivation to distribute the disc as widely as possible
Private donations are used to increase awareness of global climate change, so the activists are happy.
The discs are paid for, so the movie producers are happy.
Al Gore gets credit for one of the biggest selling DVDs ever, so he's happy.
Al Gore for Nobel Peace Prize, now I'm happy

I think it's a "win, win, win", situation all around.

4. I expect it stems from the batch the public schools
were not allowed to receive.

It is a DVD which really needs a wider audience.

8. If the Google results I got on that name are the same guy, I think he's on the level --
he seems to have a deep interest in the environment. His personal website is password protected though.

7. Sending out free DVDs might actually be cheaper
Edited on Sun Feb-04-07 02:46 PM by Gatchaman
than posting it streaming online. Bandwidth costs for a feature length movie get real expensive real quick. DVDs manufactured in bulk are a couple of bucks, tops. I'm sure the packaging is optimized for cheap postage, and they can use bulk mail to send it out in batches. A good idea, to be sure.

I'll save 'em the money and rent it myself though.

Edit: I just checked on Discmakers, and 10,000 DVDs in cardboard sleeves are 64 cents each, and in keepcases they're only 93 cents each. Defniitely cheaper and more effective than streaming video.

Technology is such a wonderful thing.

9. I'm not savvy when it comes to knowing whats legit or not...
so I don't do these things until I ask people I know about it. That aside, I do believe there IS a drive to get this out any way possible, and I agree with that, so this very much could be legit.

Just this morning I was thinking of buying it, and I'm pretty sure that the profits for this DVD go to support the cause. If so, I'd rather buy it. JMHO

11. The idea is to send others there who say they'd NEVER...
...pay good money to see this film. Now they don't have to.

But since you're wondering about the value of this site to YOU, you could contribute the cost of a DVD, so someone else can see it.

NGU.

13. I signed up: they've got a forum (link in post)
Edited on Sun Feb-04-07 06:00 PM by Mabus
I want to (and told them in the comment section) that I would like a copy to send around to a few friends and then donate it my public library. After I signed up I found a forum at http://sharethetruth.us/forum/ that they want others to know about.
