Earthquake off Cuba, Jamaica

Felt the tremor just seconds after 4.00pm and did a check. 6.1 - they must have had a good shake at Guantanamo Bay.

A strong earthquake has occurred, but a tsunami IS NOT expected along the coasts of U.S. Atlantic and Gulf of Mexico states, and Eastern Canadian provinces. NO tsunami warning or watch is in effect for these areas.

Based on the earthquake location, magnitude, and historic tsunami records, a damaging tsunami IS NOT expected along the U.S. Atlantic, Eastern Canadian and Gulf of Mexico coasts.

At 3:57 PM Eastern Standard Time on February 4, an earthquake with preliminary magnitude 6.4 occurred in the Cuba region.

5. Not often but
there have been devastating quakes here. This year is the 100th anniversary of the great Kingston Earthquake of 1907.

Last moderate one that I remember was Janaury 1994.

This was felt more in the West. Just a mild tremor here.
