Besides, not even Michael Moore will go that far.

And since you provide no expert testimony to that effect, I
must assume that all experts everywhere in the world are in
complete agreement that water is in fact NOT wet.

and other "national security measures" allow for such a release to be retroactively all right.

Don't think anything does though - otehrwise why would the right wing media have spent months
spouting nonsense about Plame's intelligene status being common knowledge?

said the broken record.

Article I, Section 9
No bill of attainder or ex post facto Law shall be passed.

I know I'm not a lawyer, I know it has been previously applied to making things *illegal*, but I think the Founders would approve of applying it to the crap this administration has been pulling.

176. yep. Ex post facto is your buzzword.
And "Bills of Attainder" are bills (proposed laws) with a particular person's name in them, that are designed to benefit only one person or group of named person.
Example: The crap Jebbie tried to pass to help Terri Schiavo's parents. Illegal and unconstitutional as hell, yet nobody mentioned that.

He'll look us straight in the eye and go, "What treason? You're imagining things."

Can't wait to see what kind of support he gets, with dear George at 28.

Because the Republicans remember Nixon. Maybe. Maybe they can decide who Ford is. Then that ambitious man will have to decide if he wants to "heal the nation" or get elected.

That's too much for a Republican mind.

156. Goldhagen is a sociologist at Harvard U. His book doesn't attempt
to "smear" anyone (although his book has the effect of smearing the German people pretty much in toto for their willing collaboration with the Nazis right up until the bitter end in 1945).

His book is certainly not an attempt to smear the Pope, as it came out long before the current Pope assumed the title.

But your post suggests that the Pope can do no wrong. That doctrine is called "papal infallibility" and I am unclear whether you subscribe to it. But if it were to come out some years from now that the current Pope had been a willing and even eager participant in the Hitler Youth and SS, would you still call any attempt to report it a "smear"?

65. I don't think Rove is really that important, anymore. The question is, did Dubya know?
And, was he part of the plot to out Plame. If that comes out during trial, we're looking at a solid case for impeachment. Even the GOP stalwarts will have to vote to remove the little booger. Of course, Dubya would have to resign.

Let's see, if a majority of the House and Senate can't both agree on a replacement for Dick, and Dubya leaves office, that makes Nancy Pelosi President.

is putting a bunch o blame on KKKarl himself. Check out the opening statement live blogging @ firedoglake:

http://www.firedoglake.com/2007/01/23/libby-liveblog-wells-opening-statement-part-one

Cheney made notes of what Libby said. Notes show Libby telling VP that he was not involved in leak. (oops, Wells, accidentally said, "not involved in leak to Karl Rove."

Cheney's note: "Not going to protect one staffer and sacrifice the guy that was asked to stick his neck in the meat grinder because of the incompetence of others."

The person who was to be protected was Karl Rove. Karl Rove was President Bush's right hand person. Karl Rove was the person most responsible for making sure Bush stayed in office. He had to be protected. The person who was to be sacrificed.

As much as I would like that to happen, if it ever gets to that point, Cheney will "resign", the admin. will put their chosen candidate as VP (Lieberman, McCain, Rice, et al). Then when Bush is replaced, the first choice of the previous list will be President and the second choice will be Vice President for about 18 mos or so. Pelosi has essentially no shot to be President.

Good for Fitzgerald he was waiting for the democratic congress to get in and put a leash on Gonzales

99. So, will he be at the SOTU or is he blowin' town? (One way or the other)
Makes me a tad nervous that just about everybody will be in one place when Cheney is in this much trouble.

124. yeah...
why is that little red flag waving the same "tad nervous" that yours is. I can't put my finger on it. What is it that you are a tad nervous about? I'm being serious, I can't exactly place what it is that is unsettling me. This all in all is of course, great news (understating a bit, I am) but what is it that is unsettling to you, maybe you can express it better than I.

but the vast majority of Americans don't.

Therefore, this makes me happy. Let the Bush Administration's civil war begin.

ago, about impeaching bush, that this won't work, but to go after someone small (Libby) and watch it go up the ladder, John Dean what a smart and insightful man!!! he was right.

Why it's serious, beyond endangering a couple CIA agents - BECAUSE OF WHAT THEY WERE WORKING ON AT THE TIME.

147. Prosecutor: Cheney 'Deeply Involved' In CIA Leak
As usual, Big Media is about 3 years late to this party....

Prosecutor: Cheney 'Deeply Involved' In CIA Leak

12:34 pm EST January 23, 2007

MSNBC reports the special prosecutor in Valerie Plame case says Vice President Dick Cheney was "deeply involved" in the CIA leak about Plame.
NBC's David Schuster says prosecutors believe "Cheney wrote out what (aid Scooter) Libby should say in a conversation with New York Times reporter Matt Cooper."
In that conversation between Libby, who was Cheney's chief of staff, and Cooper, Libby reportedly brought up Plame's name.

Special Prosecutor Patrick Fitzgerald used his opening statement in the CIA leak trial Tuesday to describe a tumultuous week early in the Iraq war, when he said the White House was "under direct attack" and pushed back against criticism by former ambassador Joseph Wilson, Plame's husband.
Fitzgerald said Cheney told Libby, in 2003 that Wilson's wife worked for the CIA and Libby spread that information to reporters. When that information got out, it triggered a federal investigation.
"But when the FBI and grand jury asked about what the defendant did," Fitzgerald said, "he made up a story."

I. Lewis Libby is charged with perjury and obstruction. He told investigators he was surprised to learn Wilson's wife's identity from NBC News reporter Tim Russert, not from the vice president. But Fitzgerald told jurors that was clearly a lie because Libby had already been discussing the matter inside and outside of the White House.

142. Yep.. and all the news-chicklets seem sooo surprised.
They've got the vapors NOW. It's odd that WE knew this stuff BEFORE the '04 election, and the "SCN" (so-called news) people were out-of-the-loop or deliberately avoiding any bad press that might make Kerry president.

160. I fear they are. 'Willfully ignorant' is an appropriate phrase, I think.
The traitorous acts of the entire Administration have been so outrageous, it IS almost unbelievable when one thinks about it.
Maybe, just maybe, someone is finally going to stop them.

159. For anyone who's watched my film "Rove's War"
where I spent a year on researching all this, and collected tons of footage, which I edited all down so that it would be more easily digested, you'll notice that I played up Cheney's ROLE VERY Heavily.

So much so that on many occasions I have the red rimmed EYE OF CHENEY filling the whole screen :)

Ask me anything :)

180. We on DU could have cracked this case two years ago. We know
the fact will come out that dumbya knew about the leak, okayed the leak and encouraged the leak as punishment when he was telling the press he will fire anyone associated with the leak in his administration. The real news about this outcome will be, will America uphold the death penalty for treason since this all happened during a war in Afghanistan?
