Wolf Blitzer Appreciation Thread (not a joke)
Say what you will about Wolfie--and I will say that he's something of a dimwit and often a tool of his corporatist and/or neo-con masters--he did show a lot of professionalism in his calm and even gracious treatment of Michael Moore. I'm not referring to the content of Wolfie's defense of CNN, but to his overall demeanor--a stark contrast to some of the fatheads with large cable audiences. Not to mention that he agreed to "play ball" with Moore by promising to show the tape of segment 2 unedited.

1. True, and I'm glad Wolf promised Moore that
the part two of the interview will run unedited and uncut, he is even using that as a tease for tomorrows show.

I tend to like Wolf more than most of the pundits, he seems like he has some honor.

4. Hmmm, starting your show with a taped hit piece without
Edited on Mon Jul-09-07 07:21 PM by Spazito
Gupta there to back up his crap is hardly gracious and professional, imo. I didn't see him as being professional, I saw him as not having a friggin leg to stand on and rightly so, that's why he was so meek in his demeanor, imo.

As to the promise not to edit the tape of segment 2, if CNN and Wolf had any integrity, there would have been NO need to promise they wouldn't edit.

5. I cannot appreciate someone who's reaction was more akin to
a Deer in the Headlights spot, than being "gracious". Far too many of these talking heads have learned to shut their faces down when prodded with the truth. And that is ALL Blitzer did.

He's a shill for the corporations that sign his check. Nothing more.

6. Wolfie said one true thing during that exchange
In reference to CNN news, he said "This is a business".
Now that's a fact.

7. When it comes to making money
Edited on Mon Jul-09-07 07:28 PM by Robson
Wolf and his cohorts in the MSM are prostitutes to the money and the system. Blitzer accepted Moore's deserved bitch slapping tonight because he wanted good ratings.

Notice in the beginning of his show he said the interview would be forthright and very shortly. 40 minutes later they showed it.

There was nothing to say because the reality is obvious to anyone that's been paying attention. That tool will get no praise from me.

Maybe you need to see it again.

Wolf tried his damnedest to stop Michael Moore's diatribe. It was Moore who did not allow Wolf to get a word in edgewise.

18. actually, Moore lost that round
I couldn't figure out why Moore was so upset. He kept saying he'd not been on the show for 3 years and when Wolf said "we've asked you to be on during those 3 years, you always refused" Moore did not have a comeback...or a defense even.

And why, really, should they have Moore on. Moore is a movie maker. Between movies he's not news.

Moore looked a little crazy to me.

25. they were cheap shots, Mike should have kept to the facts of the film
for some reason Mike was furious when he started the interview and he seemed unable to answer the questions.

The way I see it, Wolf doesn't need to answer Mike's questions. I don't tune in to CNN to hear Wolf's opinions and I don't expect him to defend the media. Wolf's job was to ask Mike questions not the other way around.

I don't think the CNN intro piece was that bad, I don't remember any lies and it pointed out the most devastating fact about the film, 37th place and agreed it is true.

28. You bought into those lies?
What a sad admission to make. Your love for an AIPAC/PNAC operative is touching, but as for the CNN/Gupta lies, do a little fact checking: http://www.michaelmoore.com/sicko/news/article.php?id=10017

31. that's the best you've got?
I'm the first to admit the MSM must be called up on every one of their lies but these are pretty minor...imho. Too minor to have put Moore over the edge. He lost all effectiveness by being so enraged.

One of Moore's most disarming features has always been his humor. It would have been more effective for him to have given Wolf these facts in an unemotional, humorous way. Instead he attacked Wolf as a stand in for "the man" and he came off looked unhinged. He made Gupta out to be a lying monster. Gee. Gupta has never struck me as being evil and my guess is most other watchers feel the same way.

Would have been better to point out that doctors have a stake in this debate. A different stake than the rest of us have.

But that's just me.

34. why on earth would you ask them?
or at least Wolf? He's an idiot pretty boy. It's not just job to decide what gets on the news, he just reads it.

Seems to me you could ask that Ken doll questions until you are blue in the face and you will never get a thoughtful answer nor will you get change. They will just say "don't blame the messenger."

Ask someone who might know the answer. Like the meida owners who decide what gets aired.

Or better still, do something about it instead of asking a Ken doll.
