Followed shortly by the impeachment of Nixon.

4. as far as i know, nixon was not impeached

there were articles of impeachment drawn up but he resigned first:
"Nixon resigned the presidency in the face of likely impeachment by the United States House of Representatives."

9. You're technically correct.

The word �impeachment� may be used to mean several different things. Any member of the House may �impeach� an officer of the United States by presenting a petition or memorial, which is generally referred to a committee for investigation and report.

Really, going after Cheney is the single most effective thing we can do to preempt an attack on Iran. Good to remember. That way when AIPAC rushes to his defense, and various Dems remain quite recalcitrant to impeaching him, you won't get confused and think it has something to do with "getting a spine."
