1. No-hope republican
And then again, I'd be curious about the context; Limbaugh for example portrays both liberalism and environmentalism as religions.

4. Actually, the context was more Iraq bull-babble
The usual talking points about Al Qaeda and evil doers, but he expanded to explain how the people we are fighting are "fanatics who want to combine religion and government." I can't remember the rest of his remarks verbatim, but it sounded like he was describing the Republican party! The American Taliban.

3. He is a GOP nut and wants to exclude from taxation 90% of the income of the rich called
"investment income" - claiming a consumption tax - as in a income tax that is only on wages or a sales tax - is so much better for the economy - and that people want "new ideas".

6. Huckabee's some kind of minister himself
He would be the perfect meld of church and state.
Oh, he meant someplace else. I see.

9. was he talking about muslims?
Because, honestly, some of their biggest campaign issues (more religion in the public sector) are some of their biggest complaints about muslims.

Bill OhReally used to bitch all the time, for example, about how the problem with the middle east is that too many countries let the religion run their government. And then in the very next breath he will bitch about secular progressives and how they ruin our country by trying to take religion out of government

14. Huckabee is actually one savvy politician
While definitely a right-winger, and a very conservative Christian, he gets what lots of them don't: their rhetoric and anger are turning their people off, and definitely turning off people they'd like to recruit.

So he's changed his language.

Not that I think he's really changed his thinking, mind you. But he knows better than many how to sell it. He comes across as mild-mannered, soft-spoken, totally reasonable...

That's why he actually scares me more than the rest of that motley crew.
