1. Man I can't wait for 2008, when 22 GOP senators go up for re-election...
if they keep acting like idiots, by 2008, we'll have the White House and a filibuster-proof majority.

2. What happened to the "nuclear option" as a counter to filibuster?
Just wondering why it's off the table, apparently, along with impeachment. I thought the Senate Majority could change the rules by a simple majority and dispense with the filibuster as a tool. Would they lose Repub anti-war support if they did this, or would that Gang of 12 stop it?

3. Well, the GOP didn't use it on us...
so I think it would seriously backfire for us to use it on them. All their whining would actually have some merit in the eyes of many voters. Besides, there's larger issues to consider in that. Like, for example, what happens when one day the GOP takes over Congress again and we don't have the filibuster option?

7. they didn't have to use it - the vote passed,
almost split down straight party lines, remember the vitriol slung around when prominent Democratic politicians voted with the administration AGAIN! Triangulators were out in force.

4. I could be wrong, but I thought that the "nuclear option" only applied
to Bush's judicial nominees. Did it apply to all Senate business?

5. Correct, it was judicial nominees only
although a case could be made that it applied to all presidential appointments, such as cabinet members and the like.
