The DC MADAM, Monica Goodling's Attorney, John McCain, and all that lobbyist MONEY $$$$
How people interconnect sometimes says more that we might otherwise realize. Goodling is represented by John M. Dowd, partner of a huge lobbyist firm, one resembling, in income sources, Jack Abramoff gaming clients. Their defense history includes public corruption, and their staff includes a DC Madam connection. And the Presidential candidate that ran the Abramoff cover-up for the Republican-controlled Senate, John McCain, seems to have been one of their clients during the S&L investigations.

OMG: The Akin Gump Escort Worked For... Monica Goodling's Lawyer!!!
http://www.abovethelaw.com/2007/05/akin_gump_on_the_dc_madams_app.php
We believe our source. We've learned that the Akin Gump temptress worked for someone even more senior at the firm -- and even more powerful.

We have confirmed, with knowledgeable sources, what was previously rumored in reader comments. The Akin Gump Escort worked for John M. Dowd, the high-powered head of the firm's criminal litigation group. .....

D.C. Law Firm Suspends Woman Who Worked as Escort

A legal secretary at one of Washington's most prominent and well-connected law firms, Akin Gump Strauss Hauer & Feld LLP, has been suspended after telling her bosses she secretly worked at night for the escort service run by the so-called D.C. Madam, Jeane Palfrey.

The woman both serviced clients and, at times, helped to run the business, Palfrey told ABC News in an interview to be broadcast on "20/20" Friday.

The firm said it would not make her name public.

John M. Dowd heads the firm's criminal litigation group. Mr. Dowd has prosecuted and defended significant criminal matters at trial and in parallel proceedings before Congress and regulatory agencies for more than 30 years. His practice focuses on the trial of complex civil and criminal cases.

Mr. Dowd is noted for his representation of a U.S. district judge, a former U.S. attorney and two U.S. senators. In addition, he represented a U.S. governor in a lengthy, high-profile criminal trial involving 23 counts charging false statements, wire fraud and attempted extortion.

Mr. Dowd has represented a U.S. senator before the Department of Justice and the Senate Ethics Committee; a U.S. Army colonel in the Iran Contra Hearings; a U.S. senator before the Senate Ethics Committee; and a U.S. governor in litigation with the Resolution Trust Corporation and in a fact-finding hearing before the House Subcommittee on General Oversight and Investigations, Committee on Banking, Finance and Urban Affairs, which inquired into the failure of the savings and loan industry. .....

Law Blog Question of the Day: Who pays Goodling’s legal bills? Akin Gump’s Dowd is one of D.C. top white-collar defense lawyers whose rate, we’d venture to guess, is too rich for young Monica’s blood. Assuming he has some flexibility, does he cut his fees? Does he take the case pro bono for the opportunity to work on a fascinating case with lots of free publicity? Through an Akin Gump spokeswoman, Dowd declined to comment. Beltway lawyers: How does this work?

Perhaps Monica should thank the Indians in Arizona.
This is just unbelievable, $$millions$$ per year?
This is also so reminiscent of Abramoff!

1. Except I don't think Dowd knew his secretary was a call girl.
So how relevant is the connection? It isn't. A woman has lost her essential day job thru the revelation of this list.

My suspicion is that it will primarily be the women who suffer from this reveal. None of the gloaters I've seen here is even considering protecting the women's names.

3. We do not know the details YET. However, lobbyists were using the "escorts"
and that is an integral part of the scandal investigations.

There may or may not have been a connection between her day job, lobbying, and the "escort" service job. We do not have the facts pointing to either option. Does anyone have more info?

At best a daytime soap drama or B movie, and it has elements of never ending and, of course, lots of white collar mafia guys and the gals they hire. We need to throw in a little Law and Order too, perhaps.

Randy 'Duke' Cunningham - Federal grand jury indicts Foggo, Wilkes
By Kelly Thornton and Debbi Farr Baker
UNION-TRIBUNE - February 13, 2007
http://www.signonsandiego.com/news/politics/cunningham/20070213-1448-bn13indict4.html

.. U.S. Attorney Carol Lam announced the indictments at an afternoon press conference, calling the charges against the two men “breathtaking in scope.”

... The jury returned 11 counts against Foggo and Wilkes that include conspiracy, wire fraud, conflict of interest and money laundering. It charges Foggo with using his seniority and influence within the CIA to direct the awarding of contracts to Wilkes, his lifelong friend.

A second indictment, which included 26 counts, names Wilkes and New York-based mortgage banker John T. Michael, who co-owned a mortgage company that provided loans to Cunningham. It charges Wilkes with conspiracy, wire fraud, bribery of a public official and money laundering. ...

... The indictment alleges that Wilkes paid bribes to Cunningham in the form of cash, checks, lavish meals, trips, lodging, corporate jet travel, boats and prostitution.

So, we sort of put up this indictment thingie last night without letting you in on the full-on corrupt-politicians pay to do it with sexy ladies angle To save you the trouble of wading through the 42-page PDF file, here are the sexy parts, which are particularly sexy if you like your paid, anonymous sex to be so anonymous that the ladies you have sex with don’t have names but just letters. The gory details, after the jump.

101. From on or about August 15 through 18, 2003, defendant WILKES rented the Hapuna Suite (costing approximately $6,600 per night) at the Hapuna Beach Prince Hotel on the Island of Hawaii for his use along with coconspirator Cunningham and one other guest;

102. On or about August 15, 2003, at approximately 5:00 p.m., defendant WILKES instructed an ADCS employee to obtain two prostitutes for that evening and later provided the employee with $600 in cash to pay for two hours of their services (not including tip);

104. On or about August 15, 2003, at approximately 11 p.m., Prostitutes “A” and “B” and their “driver” arrived at the Hapuna Suite. Pursuant to defendant WILKES’s instructions, an ADCS employee escorted the prostitutes into the Suite and paid the driver $600 in cash;
105. On or about August 15, 2003, after approximately 15 minutes in the suite, defendant ......

"Dusty" Foggo and "Nine Fingers"

L-3/GSI's next door neighbor in Chantilly, Virginia, is a company called Archer Logistics run by a man named by Brent Wilkes ....

Archer, which occupies a slightly smaller but more stylish two story red building, was a multi-million dollar contractor to the Pentagon beginning in 1995. In 2003 the company won a contract to supply water to CIA personnel in Iraq ....

Wilkes has been indirectly named in a lawsuit against San Diego Congressman Randy Cunningham, of using bribery in obtaining his military contracts, although he has not been charged.In March 2006 the CIA opened an investigation into whether his contracts were obtained with the help of Kyle "Dusty" Foggo, the third highest ranked CIA official and a former CIA officer nicknamed "Nine Fingers." Both men attended poker parties thrown by Wilkes at the Watergate Hotel in Washington DC.

Guests often arrived at the parties in chauffeured Mercedes-Benz limousines charted by Wilkes and were allegedly supplied with Cuban cigars and prostitutes. One frequent visitor was Cunningham, whom Wilkes paid $630,000 in bribes, according to an Pulitzer Prize-winning investigation conducted by the San Diego Union-Tribune.

There are no reported links between L-3 and the scandals involving Archer.

But like any good neighbors, they certainly do business together. Archer Logistics is an approved distributor for L-3's night vision Holographic Weapon Sights for M4 guns, used by U.S. soldiers in Iraq.
