KKK Applauds Supreme Court Ruling (for real)

http://rackjite.com/serendipity/archives/387-KKK-Applauds-Supreme-Court-Ruling.html

-snip-

Major Victory for Parents in America! And its About Time!

National Director Thomas Robb of The Knights Party, said on Thursday that he was extremely pleased with the ruling by the U.S. Supreme Court that upheld the desire of white parents who did not want their children to be a part of America’s greatest social experiment tragedy.

"America has held dear to the concept of freedom of association and yet Brown V. Board of Education took that most fundamental right away from parents in choosing the most appropriate schools and resultant playmates and peers for their children," Robb said.

does that not say it all when the KKK applauds a Supreme Court ruling?!!

1. Robb
wonder if he's the KKK dude from around here? His name is Robb--and he isn't just hateful of blacks--he also won't have anything to do with gays, Jews, Catholics, and Italians.

14. Oh yeah
Bull Shoals Lake. Antonio Marco, one of my coworkers (who went to the Robb house to do a pest service and was rebuffed because of his ethnicity, would probably show you the "best spots" in the lake as well.

21. Yes, I know this
we try to avoid him, but one of his relatives called in for a pest service and we didn't realize who it was. We were glad they wouldn't let us treat their house. Realize our company has hired African Americans before, and will again, I'm sure. Reg was a student, and only worked part time during the summer before college started, but the boss told me that we cut off ANYONE who gave him grief.

4. I hope Roberts frames it and puts it on his wall.
If not, I hope the minority justices do it for him.

10. He has a cousin, then, in Arkansas
who also has a "ministry" that consists mainly of mass mailings to the county telling us how terrible we are because we allow minorities to live and work in peace here.

The Supreme Court is being praised by the KKK is proof of what kind of people the right-wing panders to, but refuses to admit it.

9. So what was this SCOTUS ruling about?
I was gone for a while and missed most of the hubbub. Something about not being able to bus students between cities anymore?

I don't understand the underlying theory about why students should be forced to go to non-neighborhood schools to begin with.

13. It's called integration -- a proven method of enriching children's educational experience
Both socially and academically. Children learn more, are better informed, and become more tolerant
when in a racially integrated environment.

16. What were the details of the integration?
Is this intra-city we're talking about, or between different cities?

There was quite a fuss in Connecticut a few years ago about something like this. I think it involved Hartford and it's surrounding suburbs.

20. A good Google search will provide details
The precedent struck down in Brown vs BoE was segregation. Applications beyond that were individual
and academic.

22. IIRC, it was a school district in Washington
where students could choose which high school in the district they wanted to attend. If more students wanted to attend a particular school than there were slots available, the decision on which could attend was based on:
1) students who had siblings that were already in a school had preference over those who did not
2) students who lived closer to the school had preference over those who liver farther away

and all else being equal, the schools could use race as one of several tie breakers, choosing students of a race that was underrepresented at the school as compared to percentage of that race in the school district. So, for example, if the district was 20% african-american, and this school was only 15% african-american, they would be more likely to select an african-american student to bring that percentage closer to that of the district as a whole. So if the school already had 25% african-american students, they would be less likely to select another.

the SCOTUS ruled that race could not be used AT ALL for selecting students, even as one of many factors.

Not across district or city lines.

Okay, then, thanks for the info!

19. Only thing they'll have to do is rescind their dis'ing of Catholics...
Wouldn't want to dis the "Catholic Five" that's ruling for what they want!

This is not meant as any disrespect to other Catholics here. We just have to expose the wingnut hypocrisies in all corners!

23. This is such a crock of shit.
Did you know that in right-wing counties where minorities are few, it's the minorities who have to stay put to keep the school in balance with federal requirements, and anglos have more flexibility moving around. At least that's what one athletic coach told me daughter. She said that if she marked "white" instead of the "hispanic" block, she could go play outside of her assigned school zone.
