NEW YORK (Reuters) - A new book by former U.S. President Bill Clinton, called "GIVING: How Each of Us Can Change the World," will go on sale in September, the publisher announced on Tuesday.

Clinton plans to donate a portion of the proceeds to charities and nonprofit organizations, Knopf Publishing Group said.

"GIVING" goes on sale on September 4, with a first printing of 750,000 copies, said Knopf, a division of Random House, which is part of Bertelsmann AG.

Clinton, who recently hit the campaign trial on behalf of his wife, Democratic presidential hopeful Sen. Hillary Clinton, plans a U.S. tour to promote the book, the publisher said.

1. Seems Clinton has really been taken by the concept of changing the world. This time
without the politics (aside from his wife's campaign). I hope the book does well.

2. I'm constantly amazed
by how differently Democratic and Republican presidents react to "retirement". The Republicans go off and join the Carlyle Group, play a lot of golf, line their pockets, and live the life of Riley, where Democrats tend to become world class humanitarians, remain engaged and desirous of changing the world. It's fundamental and it's true. Oh and it goes for Vice Presidents, too.
