Argument over bible leads to shooting.

An argument over the Bible may have been the reason someone fired a gun into a home with two children, according to a police report.

Wilkenson Pandol, 23, said he was sure the shooting was a retaliation for an argument he had with some men about the Bible on Friday.

uh :wtf:

10. Not Incurable! Never Give Up!
I have been healed of religionism and now count myself among the skeptics. I was once a promising young minister. No moral failures in my closet, unless you are one of those who count ubelieving as a moral failure.

We could learn a lot from the evangelists. I wish that we would be zealous about sending math and science teachers around the world as the evangelists are about sending missionaries. I am becoming increasingly evangelistic about skepticism.

12. I, too, was once a "promising young minister"
Thank the gods that I came to my senses. Too bad it was only after graduating from seminary...

But better late than never, right?

And even worse, it's a voluntary mental illness. :(

6. And the argument was...
Person 1: "Jesus said, 'Love thy neighbor.'"
Person 2: "No, he didn't! He said, 'Love your neighbor!.'"
Person 1: "No, it was, 'thy neighbor.'"
Person 2: "Uh-uh. 'Your neighbor.'"
Person 1: "THY!"
Person 2: "YOUR!"
Person 1: "THY!"
Person 2: "YOUR!"
Person 1: *BLAM*
Person 2: *BANG*

8. It doesn't explain what the actual argument was about.
This is relevant.

13. I wish the story included that detail, but, I don't think it matters all that much.

The shooting makes it pretty clear that they missed the major points of the book.
Even if they were right about the argument.

22. Thank You. I'm not out to "Christian Bash" even though I'm not one myself.
I have great respect for men like Jimmy Carter that don't have to tell you that they are christians. You know it by their acts. The falwells and the phelps, however, I would happily give both barrels.

18. Somebody probably had the audacity to suggest
That Jesus advocated us to love each other and some fundy nut probably insisted Jesus didn't care about that, he just cared about hating Gays and abortion. Argument escalated, Bible was pulled out, fundy couldn't point to all the passages that wanted us to hate each other, so...typically in the White X-tian way of bombing abortion clinics, etc...he shot the guy who proved him wrong since you really can ONLY be right with views like that in a vacuum.
Heresy! Heresy!
