If Vitter resigns Lieberman becomes irrelevant. Two birds with one stone
http://www.kxmc.com/News/Nation/142368.asp

<snip>The Democrats hold only a slim majority in the Senate. If Vitter goes and Blanco puts in another Dem (as you know she would) Joe Lieberman’s going to get shoved over to the margins by Harry Reid. Currently the Dems walk on eggshells around Joe as, should he switch parties and caucus with the Republicans, the Dems would lose their majority. They wouldn’t have to worry about that with a new Democrat taking a seat in Louisiana

Regardless, what a fool Vitter is. He ran a “family values” campaign to get elected, railing against gay marriage as an affront to the institution of marriage. Apparently not considering dalliances with hookers to also be an affront to marriage. I hope this jerk does resign in disgrace, political consequences be damned

3. What about if Lieberman switched to repub.
Wouldn't that then put us back in a pickle. After all, he'd just be acknowledging what we all know is true anyhow but he might piss off anything that's left of his democratic base.

5. He won't resign, after Clinton, the republicans have an excuse
If he could survive that, then they will get away with anything after the imaginary cloud being forgives them.

6. Is that a great thought, or what????
No more Lieberman AND on less self-righteous "family values" hypocrite in the Senate.

My day is better already!

Thanks for this post.

9. I doubt he will, but if he does, how is the replacement selected?
If the replacement is chosen by the Gov. of La., I can see a sitch where the weak centrist Blanco might appoint a repuke to avoid confrontations. She might appoint a conservative Dem who will cleve to Lieberdog. I just don't see where Blanco would have the fortitude to appoint a liberal or progressive Dem. One can hope, of course, but I have found little reason to hope for any good to come out of my birth state.

11. Call his office and ask him to resign
Vitter said Clinton should have resigned because of his "mess."

( I really doubt that the repugs will let him resign because of the #s )
