Administration Spurned Special Olympics Because Kennedys Supported It

Former surgeon general cites political interference

WASHINGTON: Dr. Richard Carmona, a former U.S. surgeon general, told a congressional panel that top Bush administration officials repeatedly tried to weaken or suppress important public health reports because of political considerations.

Administration officials even discouraged him from attending the Special Olympics because, he said, of that charitable organization's longtime ties to a "prominent family" that he declined to name. "I was specifically told by a senior person, 'Why would you want to help those people?' " Carmona said.

The Special Olympics is one of the nation's premier charitable organizations to benefit disabled people, and the Kennedy family has long been deeply involved in it. When asked after the hearing whether that "prominent family" was the Kennedys, Carmona responded, "You said it. I didn't."

what a nasty vile bunch they are, what a stain on our society.

I have attended functions where they were present.

The race to the "top" began a long time ago for these families. Kennedy's represented a threat to the Bush Klan by the mere fact of the Kennedy's altruistic givings, and their recognition that people are worth dignity, rather than mere tools for enhancing the status of the likes of Prescott Bush.

As the Kennedys entered and became unbeatable competitors in the political realm, this interrupted Bush's obsession for a "new world order", brewing even then.

Bushthought = "If you can't beat em, kill em."

Anyway, while I agree with you, I was wondering if you had any good books, webpages, or other sources of more in depth information about Prescott, Joe K., and their contemporaries.
Anything you have is appreciated. I'm just looking to educate myself a little more thoroughly....

could have been on Salon.com when they emerged along with Moveon.org, during the Clinton neo-con lynching, ala M Lewinsky. I recall these two being the ONLY on-line mags. that truely spoke the truth of what was really happening to Bill Clinton, and why.

I cannot cite exactly where I read this, about the Bush/Kennedy fued, but let me do some searching.
I am certain the original post I read had links to the source, as all good dem reporting aren't afraid to cite their sources.


I will see what I can find.
It was a pretty interesting read, and I learned much about the history of the Bush klan.
I believe it is where I also learned of Prescot Bush's association with Adolph Hitler, & Bush's financial support for Hitler's mission.

Nothing has changed course, with the Bush klan of today.

They would deny funds, and let these things go and not be helped because of spite. Just like bush does everything. Including Valerie Plame outing. And goodness knows what else they have done.

Since bush and cheney have no charities they support, which is in itself telling, they can't say the democrats are avoiding sponsoring them.

I really want Bush to hang.
