What do you think about Gravel's "National Initiative"..
putting things like gay and lesbian rights out to the electorate to vote on makes me uneasy. If we had done that fifty years ago, we'd probably still be living with segregation and laws against miscegenation. Sometimes what's popular isn't necessarily "right".

And how would you prevent large interest groups from pouring millions of dollars into misinformation campaigns?

1. Malloy put Gravel to rest last night.
But maybe he's still good for some anti-war cracks during debates.

6. A lot of what he says SOUNDS good...
but deep down, I think you're right. I also think he's a Libertarian, and not a Democrat.

3. I don't like it either.. Unless you are gay/lesbian it really is none of you business...
The Gay/Lesbian community should automatically have the same rights as everyone else....

4. Certain rights are not up for public vote.
And the first person to reply was right on target: Mike Malloy settled the Gravel issue for just about everyone last night. Gravel is also in favor of a national sales tax and other shit like that.

7. I'm very opposed to it
we'd have all sorts of nonsense, and big, controversial issues would be brought up every election.

8. Civil rights for the powerless are never popular
Think about it. The Bill of Rights is a document that limits the rights of the majority, which is why authoritarians are always trying to chip away at it.

If our rights had been held up for a popular vote, we'd never have gotten any of them.
