WE DON'T PAY YOUR INCOMPETENT ASS TO HAVE A "GUT FEELING"
ABOUT TERROR ATTACKS! We fund you and your fucking sorry department to DO YOUR FUCKING JOBS -- to gather and analyze HARD INTELLIGENCE DATA! Don't come whining to MY airwaves and display your total-ass ignorance and incompetence in the intelligence area. Either you FUCKING have some good intelligence or you don't. In any case, Mr. Jerkoff-Chertoff, STFU and do your fucking JOB!!!

8. I've just done a slow burn about this all freakin' day
I cannot believe the gall of this incompetent asshole telling us that the product of his having run Homeland Security now for what -- two years? -- is that he has a GUT FEELING that we're going to see some attacks this summer. I'd love to see someone in the MSM take him to the cleaners over that statement (as if).

I'll start the questions. Mr. Chertoff, what is Homeland Security's budget this year? Of that budget, how much is dedicated to prestidigitation and entrail-reading? How many fortune tellers currently are on Homeland Security's payroll? What kind of tea leaves do you prefer when foretelling the next terrorist attack?

47. Once again we see the Bush/neocon/republican doctrine of NO GOVERNMENT OVERSIGHT
...these people have absolutely no intention of allowing any government programs to provide assistance or help in anyway....EXCEPT TO THOSE THEY REGARD AS PRIVILEGED AND DESERVING OF PREFERENTIAL TREATMENT. This includes the very wealthy and top ownership classes in our society. So, Bush has appointed his cronies to carry out this mission and transformation process. This is why FEMA is awarded a large budget, commissions studies and publishes reports which favor the well placed influential constituents while 90% of the study reports gather dust on the shelves of bureaucrats where they can be pulled down as needed to cover their "do nothing asses".

We need to be good and pissed at this form of government because the incompetence breeds corruption and waste at the working class and tax payers expense. We face yet another potentially destructive hurricane season along the eastern and southeastern state coasts and have literally no disaster preparation or coordination available anywhere. The mess from earlier storm damages, especially from Katrina, continues to have only FEMA lip-service and in fact things have been made worse not better from the installation of defective and non-working flood pumping units which will fail should another Katrina-like storm hit the New Orleans and Mississippi Coastal water shed.

See, I don't think they thought this one through...they didn't have all their ducks lined up.

Little Ricky making his threats, Chertoff with his 'gut feelings'...but they needed Pat Robertson coming in on the bass religious angle.

That woulda got the ol' terror message a-flyin' properly...and mighta raised Li'l George's ratings by..oh...at least a point or two.

53. It isn't ineptitude. It is policy.
The system is not designed to work as advertised. Get it? It is designed to achieve agendas which are always covert, thus it appears inept or merely corrupt in the typical crony fashion.

The war on drugs wasn't designed to stop the flow of drugs or to prevent drug abuse. It was designed to make that appearance in the arena of media displayed shallow politics. Meanwhile the global black drug trade flourished -- with means to launder all capital generated, which in turn funded -- well, what did it fund? If you're a smart criminal, what do you want to buy if not influence and positioning within the system? This is the deep waters of politics where the lines between business, politics, criminal syndicates and covert agencies blur. Who is running whom?

War on terror is no more designed to fight terrorism than the war on drugs was designed to counter the global drug trade or drug abuse. So, one has to ask, what IS it doing? Since what it IS doing doesn't match its stated aims one can draw the "inept" conclusion -- meanwhile the game marches on. But it isn't ineptitude, it is intentional, it is policy. It isn't meant to stop terrorism or protect this country. Quite the contrary, IMO.

Same for "Homeland Security," It isn't designed to secure the homeland. It is designed to secure THE STATE. "Against whom?" is an appropriate question.

This country is in a free-fall into hell and unless we impeach these motherfuckers and rescind every judicial appointment that these election-stealing numbnut-thugs made, we may not be able to stop the descent.

If we experience another MIHOP, the revolution must begin. And rather than watch it on TV, I plan to meet RFK Jr. at the barricades. Hope to see all y'all there.

55. "Mr Chertoff to the White Courtesy Phone."

/snip/

I’m not going to list all of the things dovetailing here. If you’ve been paying attention then you know what I’m talking about. If you haven’t been paying attention you probably won’t be paying attention to me either. However, let’s look at some of the back story. As tame and lame as the Democratic congress is presently showing itself to be, certain elements are putting some real heat on the administration… sooner or later push is going to come to shove. Bush’s support from anyone besides the hardliners, rapture freaks and terminally stupid is gone. Heavyweights in his own party are lining up against him. Interesting tidbits are coming up about how serene, how filled with resolve he is in consideration of his legacy. There’s a media molding at work. Inside the White House things are quite different.

The administration really needs an event to take the focus off of so many things; the Libby commutation, the Gonzalez affair and the war; that big dumb fucked up war that is lost. It really would be serendipitous if something happened. Think about this, what are all those carriers and other hardware doing all bunched up around Iran? Think about it. What has Iran done? Iran isn’t blowing shit up. Iran isn’t rattling sabers; we are, but Iran isn’t. You hear this talk about them arming the insurgents and then it always comes out, even out of the mouths of generals, that there’s no proof of this. If they had proof you know that would be a headline. There’s this ongoing thing about their nuclear program and the truth of the matter is that they are not building a nuclear weapon. Irrespective of the lies and innuendos they just aren’t doing that. I wouldn’t blame them if they did though. Look at their situation. But they aren’t at this time. So there really isn’t anything Iran is doing except sitting on a bunch of oil and sitting between Afghanistan and Iraq and messing up the geo-political map of the neo-cons by not being presently assaulted based on falsified intel. And anyway, Iran was the whole point of the thing from the beginning. They don’t want to stop now. Iran is the ‘money shot’. You can’t have a successful film without the money shot.

/snip/

You know, when you take a lot of aircraft carriers and you stick them in a war zone up against a non-combatant who is armed to the teeth and you throw in a lot of confused uncertainty and hostile intent it’s sort of like when a bunch of drunken sailors walk into a notorious bar where trouble is known to happen and coincidentally the bar is crowded cause it’s Saturday night and all the locals are there. It’s late and the music is loud and the sailors are horny and so are the locals and there’s only so many women. You do the math.
