though progress has been made in some areas, and that more time is needed to allow the full strategy to be completely implemented.

Or something along those lines...

He might even stress the need for a wider dispersal of troops, requiring , of course, the need for maintaining - and even possibly increasing - current troop levels. With non-specific speculation on eventual troop reduction when the - next - progress report is given...perhaps by Spring 2008.

Cpl. Jeremy D. Allbaugh, 21, of Luther, Okla., and Lance Cpl. Steven A. Stacy, 23, of Coos Bay, Ore., were killed in separate incidents. According to reports from the men's hometown newspapers, Allbaugh was killed by a roadside explosion, and Stacy was shot about six miles northeast of Fallujah.

Iraq 'vendetta attack' kills 11

At least 11 people have died in western Iraq after insurgents locked them into a house in Anbar province and blew it up, the US military has said.

A military spokesman, Major Jeff Pool, said it may have been a "vendetta attack" against people in the village, Karmah, for supporting the military.
