Bowers to change plea to guilty in corruption case
Associated Press - July 13, 2007 3:15 AM ET

MEMPHIS, Tenn. (AP) - Former state Senator Kathryn Bowers of Memphis will change her plea to guilty Monday in the Tennessee Waltz bribery scandal.

Her attorney, William Massey, said she decided to admit her guilt after consulting with friends, family members, her pastor and attorneys.

Bowers is charged with taking $11,000 in bribes to use her influence in the Tennessee Senate.

Massey told The Associated Press that his client will accept prison time if that's what's ordered.

.......Massey told The Associated Press that his client will accept prison time if that's what's ordered.

Bowers is the only defendant in the wide-ranging scandal who hasn't gone to trial.
