Extraordinary Rendition --What should the Dem President in 2008 do about this?
Edited on Fri Jul-13-07 02:41 PM by Blackhatjack

Our CIA agents entered sovereign Italy and kidnapped an Imam off the streets and rendered him to another country that tortured him. It is alleged that the CIA agents acted with express approval of the President. Those CIA agents have been indicted by Italian Courts, and requests for extradiction from the US have been denied by the US.

What should Democrats do about this if we regain the Oval Office.

1. I would hope that the next President will follow the law in all instances.
This is just one instance.

3. I am not sure the CIA agents are necessarily to blame... but the Leader that sent them is...
I am sure that the CIA agents involved in this obviously illegal covert operation followed the orders they were given. They have been trained to carry out covert missions. They rarely go off on their own to conduct such missions -- their superiors who order the missions are responsible IMHO.

It is pretty clear that Bush authorized this mission as part of his 'war on terror.'

So should the next Dem President hold Bush criminally liable for engaging in illegal acts while in office?

If we do not hold former Presidents accountable for crimes committed while holding office as President, are we not encouraging the same kind of conduct in the future?

4. If the next president is a Republican it will be expanded.
