ABC News tells me it's really really hard to leave Iraq.
On account of how difficult it is to move out everything we've moved in.

Oh, golly. I guess that means we have to stay.

Unbelievable.

1. We likely will end up leaving many of the equipment/vehicles we brought there
Edited on Fri Jul-13-07 05:43 PM by Selatius
When Reagan pulled troops out of Lebanon after the infamous barracks bombing, the order came down that most of the heavy equipment would be abandoned because it would be too expensive to ship back.

Unfortunately, an unknown quantity of US surplus goods ended up in the hands of various factions fighting in the Lebanese Civil War.

2. They all seem to have a million reasons why we can't leave.
The oddest is that the country will end up in chaos and instability. They say this with a straight face. It's as though they believe that Iraq has a functioning government.

3. That puzzles me
I have heard it before, and I wonder, did we move all our equipment out of Vietnam when we left?

I know that when the helicopters landed on air craft carriers, they had to push many of them overboard.
Most of the equipment in Iraq is worthless after being in the sand anyway why would they bring it out?

4. Well thanks ABC for making it so damn easy for Bush to get us into Iraq
in the first place. Wish they were half as concerned in the lead up to the invasion. They were too titillated at the thought of covering all that "shock and awe" to do their jobs as journalists.
