Silent Flag Protest Raises Outcry
Source: the Denver Post (Colorado)

Beth Hammer has turned her gated Wheat Ridge community upside down with her upside-down display of the U.S. flag.

On March 19 - the fourth anniversary of the invasion of Iraq - Hammer decided to hang her flag upside down, which under the federal flag code is a signal of distress.

The 64-year-old retired banker said flying the flag with the white-starred blue field - called the union - on the bottom is her silent protest.

"I think the war in Iraq has put this country in distress," Hammer said. "We are losing lives, liberty and our honor."

2. Truly, our country has never been in so much distress.
But I will put a sign next to my upside down flag, once I get it up on my house, that says, "Throw Diebold and ES&S election theft machines into 'Boston Harbor' NOW!"

Cuz that WAS the fascist coup--fast-tracked (2002 to 2004) nationwide installation of electronic voting machines run on 'TRADE SECRET,' PROPRIETARY programming code, owned and controlled by rightwing Bushites corporations. Want to know why neither Bush nor Congress is moved by 70+% of the American people opposing the Iraq War and wanting it ended? This is what the election theft machines were FOR. To overrule the great, peace-minded, progressive American majority on the war and on all important fascist policy. We have been disenfranchised. That is the chief reason for our distress--we are unable to correct the course of our government. That was always American democracy's strength--that we could eventually alter course, if things got too out of whack. That power has been taken from us, and until we demand it back--by insisting on vote counting that everyone can see and understand--the distress will continue and will worsen.

5. My car has an upside-down flag on the backglass
Just a little bitty one about 3" X 5" in my Honda Accord.

Not long ago, some asshole in a gigantic red Dodge Ram pickup (Big Horn Edition, if you get my drift) damn near ran me off the road while flipping me off.

Hell, I live in one of the most liberal cities in the country, too (Portland O).

There are still that small percentage of Bush freaks out there that are willing to try to tell the rest of us what to think.

Fuck 'em.
