This 20% decrease in gas use call on Bush's part is a red herring.
How many times has Shrub gotten up there and given lip service for alternative energy and not done squat? Don't get me wrong, it will make the Freepers' collective head spin to hear this stuff coming right out of Shrub's mouth. I am GLAD to see it move out into the mainstream. But do I BELIEVE that he will do anything LIKE the right thing? NO! He is just doing this to get us off his backs about global warming and I am DESPERATELY afraid that IT WON'T BE ENOUGH TO FIX THE PROBLEM!!!!

4. What has he done since the "addicted to oil" speech but to make things worse?

5. Nah, he just wants to take credit for SOMETHING.
After his little war on Iran starts and Iranian oil is cut off, we will see a 20% decrease in imports.

Mission Accomplished!

7. The motto of the Republican party should be:
"We will promise you anything to get elected, but don't expect us to honor our promises."

So Bush can promise looking into alternative energies while he proceeds with his plans to corner the global oil market for the benefit of his fellow oil consortiums.

8. Will * fly to Crawford 20% less often?
Will he cut back 20% on his helicopter getaways to Camp David?
I somehow doubt it.

I remember when Jimmy Carter put on a sweater and turned down the thermostat at the White House to encourage energy conservation.
