White House moving toward Iran attack
http://feeds.bignewsnetwork.com/?sid=265253

U.S. President George W. Bush is likely to launch a military attack on Iran before leaving office, a respected London newspaper has reported.

The Guardian reported Monday there was a distinct shift in debate in the White House over options dealing with Iran, following an internal review involving the White House, the Pentagon and the State Department over the past month.

The Guardian quotes a well-placed source in Washington as saying, "Bush is not going to leave office with Iran still in limbo."

The Bush administration believes Iran is developing a nuclear weapons program. Vice President Dick Cheney is reported as leading the charge for military action, but is being resisted by Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice, and Defense Secretary Robert Gates.

If congress doesn't stand up to Smirk on attacking Iran, I'm OUT of this party and need to find a way out of this country.

6. Iran has declared Economic war already
http://www.signonsandiego.com/news/business/20070716-1107-iran-dollar-.html

LONDON – Iran, locked in a row with Washington over its atomic work, wants to maximise oil export revenue in non-U.S. dollar currencies while the dollar stays weak, a top Iranian oil official told Reuters on Monday.

Hojjatollah Ghanimifard, international affairs director of the state-owned National Iranian Oil Company (NIOC), also confirmed that Tehran has asked customers in Japan to pay for their crude oil in yen instead of dollars.

“As long as the dollar is weak, the best decision is for us to move away from it – and we will want as much revenue as possible in non-U.S. dollar currencies,” Ghanimifard said.

For the past 18 months – as the United States leads efforts to isolate Tehran for its nuclear programme – the world's fourth biggest oil exporter has done just that.

“This is not a political gesture,” said the NIOC official. “We're losing our purchasing power if we stick with the dollar.”

NIOC is now asking customers in Japan – all of whom previously bought Iranian oil in dollars – to open letters of credit in yen, the official said. The state oil company will also issue its invoices in the Japanese currency.

8. I strongly suspect this to be the case.
Edited on Mon Jul-16-07 09:37 PM by necso
The misadministration's "negotiating" position has been: stop enrichment (ie, agree to their terms in advance) -- then there can be "negotiations".

The neocons' plan is (has been) to set things in motion that we'll have to deal with for decades -- whether we're willing/able to or not.

It's sheer lunacy -- and treason. (Cheney has got to go.)

...

And let me caution the various parties involved: sooner or later there'll be legal consequences for those who have conspired in -- or aided and abetted -- these crimes; all the more so, if further crimes are committed.

Iran Agrees to UN Nuclear Inspection
By George Jahn
The Associated Press

Friday 13 July 2007

U.N. nuclear inspectors banned earlier this year by Iran from visiting a heavy water reactor will now be allowed to inspect it before the end of July, the International Atomic Energy Agency said Friday.

In a further sign of compromise, the IAEA said the country also agreed to answer questions on past experiments that the international community fears could be linked to a weapons program...

17. My guess is if it happens it will be BEFORE Congress returns from August Recess...
That would be the optimum time to head off Congressional opposition and ensure we will be staying in Iraq for an extended period of time(which will allow for forced privatization of Iraqi oil and delivery to the Oil Companies).
