6. I'd give good odds on it.
Coming out with charges finally after a delay that animal rights groups found pretty maddening suggests they've piled the evidence into a large hill.

I'm certainly not defending the activity stated in the indictment but it is an INDICTMENT and not a conviction. Everyone deserves their day in court, unless you think the law never gets it wrong in which case we can just send his ass to jail right now.

8. I don't think that anyone is suggesting that...
I think the sentiment is that IF he did these things, he is a sick bastard and should spend some time in prison. Secondly, the facts seem solid that dog fighting evidence was found at his property.
