Lines To Watch All-Night Senate Debate Extend Around Capitol (pics)
The following images show lines in the hallway outside the Senate visitors' gallery at 11:26 PM as the Senate goes into all-night debate on Iraq. The lines extended all the way around the building as people waited to watch debate.

Photos taken on a camera phone by Tom Matzzie.

3. This, is a VERY good thing.
Let America and the world see that the American people want an end to this occupation. But, more importantly, let the republican party & Joe Lieberman know that , the whole world is watching.

My thanks to the men and women who have taken the time out of their personal lives, to make this patriotic statement.

10. really? to me it seems like a big nothing. I hope I'm being overly cynical
(and ignorant! not actually 100% what's going on, i must admit)

12. You are being cynical
the last time lines formed to see one of these was 1971, the last of these was '94

They are forcing the pubbies to go on record. This will not, I repeat will not, help then when election time comes down

This is actually out of Gravel's playbook

;-)

Now if they can do this for months on end...

11. Yes, in the early 1970s, to be specific, 1971
the last time the US Senate staid up all night was '94 but no lines and no demonstrations

13. I meant the lines. The fact that people are there that late waiting to watch
this is fantastic.

17. Wow
I'm starting to believe something's actually happening. After feeling powerless for 6.5 years, that's amazing.
