So, Larry Flynt says he has 30 names, one of which shocked even HIM. In-ter-est-ing. This isn't exactly the type of thing I would've hoped for to take the Repugs down, but, well, I'll take what I can get. Sex scandals are the only thing that seems to affect the "deeply religious" Republican base. It's a bit of titillation mixed with vicarious living, I imagine. Then adding a dash of jealousy to spice it up.
"Those bastards get to have all the fun they want," they're probably thinking. Or maybe not. Heck if I know, since I've never been one of them.
We might WISH it had been 9/11 that showed how inept and corrupt this administration and their enablers were, but it wasn't.
We might WISH it had been the lies about Iraq, and the Downing Street Memos that tipped the balance, but it wasn't.
We might WISH it had been Katrina and its aftermath that showed their callous indifference to human suffering that did it, but it wasn't.
We might WISH it had been their flagrant disregard for the rule of law surrounding illegal wiretapping that enraged the public, but it wasn't.
We might WISH it had been their refusal to listen to the recommendations of the 9/11 Commission and the Iraq Study Group that had finally set their supporters against them, but it wasn't.
We might WISH it had been their refusal to craft a decent exit strategy for Iraq that finally tipped the scales, but it wasn't.
We might WISH it had been their refusal to pay for the necessary equipment to keep our soldiers as safe as possible that had pissed people off, but it wasn't.
We might WISH it was the outing of a covert CIA operative and the subsequent commutation of the sentence levied against the person who blocked the investigation that sent them over the edge, but it wasn't.
We might WISH it had been their disregard for the opinion of the rest of the world that sent their followers climbing the walls, but it wasn't.
We might WISH it had been their abuse of the language in crafting such gems as "Clean Skies" and the like, but, well, it wasn't.
Nope. What really did these buggers in was one porn purveyer's wish to show them for the hypocrites they are, and the fact that, through his willingness to put a part of his fortune on the table for evidence against them, it has been revealed that beneath their conservative suits and their masquerade as upstanding, self-righteous, "family values" legislators, they're nothing but a bunch of toga-wearing would-be Roman senators having tons of illicit fun at the taxpayer's expense.
Ain't THAT a kicker?
edited because I got ahead of myself...LOL
